Mindreading Goose, my best purchase in terms of return on investment. Audiences love it and it's fun to do.

Two effects actually. There was a bonus effect in the first package. I'm saying no more.

The best trick I've bought since I got back into magic isn't really a trick, but it's my favorite single magic thing so far: Liam Montier's DVD set, The Elmsley Count Project. It contains a very informative and well-presented survey of the Elmsley Count, a bunch of EC variations, and a slew of other useful counts. Montier also teaches several excellent effects -- some of them classic; some newer; some original. The one-two punch of Bannon's Que Sera Sera and Solomon's Jacks in the Box is some powerful card magic, encompassing a prediction, a transposition, and a card-to-impossible location in a quick, tightly plotted routine. Immersion in all of these counts also led me to develop a four-card effect of my own that I think is pretty darn good.

For this year, MD mini by Promystic has just moved to the top of the heap for me. Very powerful and natural. Stand Up Monte also gets incredible reactions. All time favorite, Extreme Burn combined with Jardonnet Fire Wallet.

I reviewed it on the RS thread so you'll know how brilliant I think the first trick is. It's only my opinion. If others disagree so be it.
