In an effort to keep things clear, WGN radio (a Tribune broadcasting Company) reported this morning that Kreskin said he is not claiming that he has psychic powers, but wishes to offer his trained powers of observation to the case. I am checking to see if I can find this in print anywhere.

Either way, it's 'low'.
I'm sure the police are desperate for an old-man-observer. |

Will he have an African-American partner helping him to solve the case and go on to set up a psychic detective agency? Real life imitates art yet again. Gosh.

Oh please people. Someone who has trained their mind to deal with the rigors of performing mental feats such as memory demonstrations are certainly capable of aiding the police. Many departments do not have people who are trained to the degree that some of the magic/mentalism world's best and brightest are. Most police officers are Jacks of all trades not specialists. I spent the last 8 years in law enforcement and saw very few specialists. I saw a lot of people who could barely tie their own shoes though and someone like Kreskin could probably help them in their search. Unfortunately, they won't let him help for various reasons not the least of which is liability. But then again, what do I know right? After all, I guess the lynch mob is always right.

No offense meant to Mr. Kreskin (as I do not know that nature of his involvement), but one should be very careful in a "path" like this. One should not put personal notariety above the serious concerns of people like the Petersons. If a person truly believes they are psychic, that would sad, but understandable. If they are just an entertainer (like me), then it's shameful, at best. Sean |

I write this as those who have been around awhile may remember that I was called PsiCop (The Psychic Cop / Psychic Detective) and was known to have helped/worked on several high profile cases in the US and abroad (England, Finland, Japan and Australia)... Also remember the use/training of remote viewers by the CIA, DOD, and other three letter agencies called, STARGATE (Grill Flame)... Next you mix both police work with psychic work... Many people believe in psychics, and that goes for victims families as well as the prime suspects in cases... I will not go into this area any further... Why do I write these things...? Well, just because we all know of ways and means to do so called psychic effects does not make the impossibility of real psychics out of the question... |

Hmm... I could see a theatrical "psychic" being used to freak out suspects etc. to help them spill the beans.... a good psychologist with reading skills etc... like Batman says "Criminals are a fearfull and SUPERSTITIOUS lot..." part of the reason he donned a Bat motif to freak villains out...
Hey Arnon, is that legal????

A while ago, after a show, someone approached me and asked if I ever help the police out in solving crimes. I said "No, I'm simply a showman, so I don't get involved in that at all."
"Oh," he said. "I understand -- you don't want to take on that responsibility." I found this puzzling, and replied, "No, it's that as a showman I don't have any business mucking around in a police matter." Just my two cents .... Happy New Year, all. R

Are you guys really this selfish? So as mentalists you won't help anyone? Just because the guy is a mentalist he can't help people? As a known name he's helping by just saying he's going to help. If this was Jay Leno no one would be crying about it. The guy wants to help. Maybe he's going to hand out flyers, or help brainstorm.
God forbid Jim Callahan decides to help someone some day even if his intention is to bring more awareness to the case, people would be dragging the guy to the cross while kicking him about the ribs and face. I will admit that I recently helped my neighbor look for his missing cat (three days) and I actually found it. (trues story) Read into it what you will as I am the phenomenal ALEXANDRE!

Alexandre,
I believe the group's concern is not out of selfishness but out of morality. It is more than good that one human wants to help another human. However, should Kreskin want to help this situation for his own personal gain as a psychic entertainer, well... that's an entirely different story. And that's where the story ends, since we don't know in what context Kreskin wants to help OR if he even wants to legitimately help, since the media has a knack of reporting falsehoods and rubbish. I think you could find a better word than phenomenal seems a bit to topical. How about something more original like the mind reader with the X Factor?

I read this somewhere a few months ago:
"Yet Randles and Hough describe how psychic Rennie Wiley set up an agency in Florida in 1984 to teach police how to call on their own extra sensory abilities to solve crimes. She called her agency The Dragon's Lair and used it to form a network of psychics and retired police officers who could combine their talents and offer assistance to the local police. They specialized in finding stolen property." I don't know if it is true but it is a great premise! And if it is true and it was northern Florida, that is almost like being in the south . |

From what I know, sometimes police like working with self-proclaimed psychics on the chance the person is the perp, know trying to reveal a location because he or she did the crime.... what was that movie... had Joel Gray in it... was along those lines...
Also, if the psychic really hot... they might get charged anyway. Now, if a theatrical mentalist trained in psychology and magic could be of use, it may be trying to help be a consultant for case involving something occult/paranormal trappings... i.e. the criminal left some symbols behind... or asking an expert escae artist how the criminal got out of a locked room maybe... However, Alexandre, I thought you were an entertainer like JC? I can see JC helping people by raising awareness of the mind, raising money for charity and providing entertainment... and I'm sure he'd help catch a criminal using his skills... but the question is are you going to use theatrical deception to convince the police of your powers to solve a case? That might not fly well?

I stopped doing my psychic detective business in July 1995 when I walked away from it after helping catch my Brothers killer in Tulsa, OK... I had offers to come back into service since then but turned them all down... After 1995, I did do a few non-murder and missing persons cases, but those were rare and few in between... In the early 90's, I had an unsolicited interview with the Green River Serial Killer Task Force in that matter and gave them information and am noted somewhere in the many pages of some lead detectives paperwork in that case... They contacted me after I did a national radio program and I started giving information on the case as I saw it in a Remote Viewing... It was interesting as I mentioned a name of a person of interest that was never ever mentioned in public before, plus his vehicle and MO for picking up the girls and dumping the bodies... |
