From Boingboing.net:

RideAccidents is a website that tracks gruesome carny-ride accidents -- the happiest manglings on earth! Fuel for your phobia of fun-fairs.

They are not all "Carny-Ride Accidents".
A large portion of them happened at Amusement Parks.
We're not bashing carnies here now,are we?

I didn't say "Oh, look at what those awful carnies are doing," I just thought it might interest readers to know what's being said about the industry. Keep up with the buzz, whether the public loves or hates.

I have no illusions about the public hating us.They do.
I have no problem with RideAccidents.com.
But it is not strictly about carnivals as your 1st post implied.
Thank you for correcting that,I'm sure you meant no harm.

Fair enough. It should be noted that I was quoting from the original post on Boingboing.com (usually a careful, accurate and useful site) - certainly an example of the way the public sees "carnival/park/fair" as all the same thing.

It's a relief(?) to read that the majority of the accidents were a result of riders being stupid, rather than equipment or operator failure.

Meanwhile, I'm off to Rye Playland--nice knowing all of you!

haha

my favorite ride accident story is of a very old lady who died in the carousel because she forgot to put the breaks on her wheelchair - okay, it's sad. but the mental image!

I know this is a sarcastic quote from "The Boys In The Band," but it applies here as well:

"Oh, my, I was so drunk last night, I don't remember a THING I did!"

What's scary is that it looks like something happens nearly every day, somewhere.
