The current contents of my CD player.
1.The Flaming Lips- major label art-rock with tongue firmly in cheek. 2.Kings of Leon- sounds like the the Davies brothers fronting a Ramones tribute band. 3.Timbuk 3- a cool forgotten 80's band. Well... I like 'em. 4.Medeski, Martin & Wood- Spacey lounge music for Brubeck fans. 5.The Scissor Sisters- Sounds like Pink Floyd and David Bowie coming out of Elton John's closet. |

Speaking of favourite bands, I was just browsing through a web site about my favourite band, The Smashing Pumpkins, when I found these photos of the band members doing magic! Personally, I find them kind of funny...
http://www.my-mistake.net/infinitepics/band/band033.jpg Billy (Lead guitar and vocals) levitating D'arcy (Bass player). http://www.my-mistake.net/infinitepics/band/band061.jpg Jimmy (Drummer) "Zig Zagging" James (rhythm guitar player). I don't know if anyone else here likes this band, but at the very least its interesting to see how they've incorporated magic in their promotional photos. |

Now *that* is funny - I just wanted to add the pumpkins to the list
never seen these pics - and I have seen a lot! did you know that billy wants to revive the band? he placed an ad in the chicago times on june 21, due to the release of his first solo album 'the future embrace'. amongst other he says: 'I want my band back, and my songs, and my dreams. In this desire I feel I have come home again'. what a nice surprise, ain't it? chamberlain is in for sure, lets hope james and d'arcy will join too... |

Any Bad Religion fans out there? Their music is amazing, not to mention their lyrics, where in one song 'God's Love' they sing about destruction, suffering, poverty, and other bad things going on in the world with the chorus being "And what I'm frightened of is that they call it 'God's Love'". Brilliant lyrics.
And seeing them on the 29th. Can't wait
