Today is my 30th birthday! Yes…I am a Capricorn ladies.
Well, it gets me thinking about age and how it affects the chances of us hitting it really big. My career is on the up-swing now but still I ponder. What are your feelings? Nick |

Nick,
You may not remember this ad campaign, but it might give you a ray of hope the next time you think your fame is slipping away with every passing year... Clara Peller, born August 4, 1902 in Chicago, Illinois was an American character actress who, at the age of 81, starred in the legendary 1984 "Where's the beef?" advertising campaign for the Wendy's fast-food restaurant chain. I wonder if when she was 80 years old, she was thinking the same thing you are? LOL! Lyndel |

I'm 58. FIFTY-FREAKIN'-EIGHT. And, if life for you has been a challenge at times, an uphill struggle, just remember ... it's all downhill from now on.

Remember when we never trusted anyone over 30? Well, I don't trust anyone under 30, now.

Lyndel, That is just what I needed, haha. I like how you think. While that doesn’t really cheer me up it makes for a really weird analogy. I am sure that there are many success stories that happen later in life. Unfortunately she only had a couple of years, 3ish, to enjoy it. But she will be remembered forever. Maybe not by name, but remembered. I can go for a Chocolate Frosty right now.
Leland, I am not dreading my age, I realize I am not really “old”, it is just a life milestone that I am recognizing and reflecting on. Nick PS My father always says “The first hundred years are the hardest and then it’s smooth sailing.” I think there may be something in that, haha. |

Another example is Grandma Moses. She became one of America's most beloved painters in a vocation she began when she was in her seventies! And she lived to 101. So don't sell yourself short. In fact, today's doctors have said that yesterday's 30 is today's 50, which I have also passed.
As for me, 10 was a great birthday because I went to 2 digits...my next milestone is 100 when I go to 3. All others mean little to nothing in my mind. 'Getting Old' is largely a frame of mind. Or, as they say, your only as old as you feel.

Good call Steven...Thank goodness 50 is the new 30. The Grandma Moses example scares me, haha. I feel great though. I have never been an athletic person but in the past two years I have totally changed gears and started running to get into shape. I have now finished three half marathons and I am going to run the ING New York City Marathon in November, god and proper training willingly. I feel like I am in the best shape of my life, which doesn’t mean much because I have a long way to go and the winter has made me lazy, believe me. But, I definitely continue to make goals for myself.

Shortly after turning 40 life seemed to get better for me and I still enjoy my life more than ever.
Time seems to go by faster and after turning 50 time is really moving along faster than I would like it to. I hope time will settle down to a constant pace when I turn 60+. Iven
