Hello fellow mentalists (well, I'm not yet a mentalist, but aspiring).
I'm hoping someone or maybe several someones could point me in the direction of trainings, workshops, seminars and the like on mentalism. I learn best in workshops and seminars (or have with other stuff, so I assume that will be the case with this) with others as opposed to learning in isolation with books, DVDs and the like. I'd deeply appreciate any guidance you can give me. Much thanks! - Iggy |

You local magic club may help in that department?
Pay the guest fee for all the mentalism lectures, if you drive you could probably go to a mentalism lecture once/twice a week if your willing to drive 200miles or more (in england).. but check out where you live! |

If you get the opportunity, attend Mindvention. That is the best advice I can give you.

Iggy,
Where do you live? Vincent is correct, many towns in the US, UK and around the world have an International Brotherhood of Magicians, Society of American Magicians, Magic Circle or other club you can check out. I live in a moderate-sized town in middle America and I've gotten to attend lectures and workshops from the likes of Docc Hilford and Barrie Richardson in the last year alone. |

Hey guys.
Huge thanks for getting me started on this path. I live in Los Angeles, so anything you can suggest in that area would be great. I appreciate the suggestion for the mentalism lectures, and I'll certainly follow up on that, but I'm more interested in training and workshops - hands-on experience with feedback. Seminars and lectures are great in their way, but I generally can't find a good path to get the info out of my brain and into practice. I've heard of a mentalism workshop held in Las Vegas (definitely close enough to me to get to easily), but for the life of me, I can't find it though any Internet search I can think up. Again, much thanks for your input! If anyone else has any leads for me, I'd greatly appreciate those too. My best to everyone, - Iggy |

Oh, well, you're kind of in the epicenter of magic and mentalism. Head for the Magic Castle. Go to Hollywood Magic and ask. About half the mystery performers in America live in or around LA. You could probably hire many as personal teachers!
The workshop (actually workshops) in Las Vegas is called Mindvention, as Samuel pointed out. Search here and you'll find info on the next one. There is also Mystery School there taught by Jeff McBride and often Eugene Burger. |

Awesome!
Huge thanks Blackwood. Just the info I needed to get me started. I'm off to find the next step on the path. |

The last time I was there they had the Lee Earle slim impression board (Can't recall for the life of me recall what it's called.). It is/was available for $75.00. They've got several book/booklets on cold reading, and general mentalism effects. They're also an excellent source for information on what is going on in the magic community in general. |

Hey Reuben,
Much thanks for that. Do they have a website. I wasn't able to find one for them through a Google search. |
