I just love this effect. Super practical in that all it requires are two gimmicked cards that can easily be surreptitiously added to your deck (i.e., the ordinary deck you have been using all night) on an off-beat...and then just as surreptitiously removed from the deck. (Note: At the same time two regular cards must likewise be removed and then added back later.)
Super simple to perform and the reaction is waaay out of proportion to the actual work involved. If you are worried about "pocket management" and not carrying an extra deck for each effect you wish to perfrom, this effect is worth considering. In addition, with a little forethought, the two gimmicked cards can each be used for additional effects. A lot of bang for the buck. Just, IMHO. Mike P.S. "Los Angeles Open" is the "B" effect that is included with the Gordon Bean "A" effect called "Joker Joker". Most people I have talked to about both of these effects seem to think that "Los Angeles Open" is the better and stronger of the two effects.

Seraph127, Thanks for that. I seem recall that comment by Gordon but, try as I might, I can not envision a situation where I'd be able to confidently trust the participant to not inadvertantly reveal one or both of the two gimmicked cards while they are casually handling the deck. Have you had any success in allowing the participant to handle the cards during the dealing and the turnovers. I'd be interested in your experiences in this regard. Thakns for the info. Mike

The add sayeth:
The deck is handed to the spectator who deals cards face up until they wish to stop. Their minds can be changed at anytime. They deal the next card face down and the rest of the cards are continued to be dealt face up. The announced prediction never shows up. The spectator spreads the cards finding that the one single card that they dealt face down matches your prediction. The performer never touches the deck from beginning to end. I USE to own this effect and this handling doesn't make sense? I thought they touched a card, all cards above were turned faceup and all cards below the card they touched are seen to be turned face up leaving one facedown card in a face up deck. |

I'd like to see a video of it. Is it possible? Where can I get it?

This sounds similar to Camirand Academy's Proton Deck - which I've always been fond of.

Oh my, Proton Deck - there's a blast from the past. I'm going to have to dig that out.

I have just purchased this effect, and cannot make sense of the instructions on page 5 "if you are moderately adventurous" ...
I am sure this is a good routine. But I can't get my head around the handling. Can anyone offer any help please? I was looking for a video of this performance, but there is non to be found on the internet. |
