No. I live in Ontario, Canada; and I always speak English except at school. At school I have some subjects in only French, and some in only English. I have Science, History, Geography and a few other things in French; but I have Math, English, Music and Gym in English. If you started learning French in school in grade 5 or 6; then you are not in immersion. I started French in grade one and we learn a lot more French than people that start to learn French in grades 5 or 6.

Randy,
I'll assume your spelling of "English" is either a) An intended pun. Or b)a slip of the typing finger. He He He Howard (He had English spelled Enlgish before an anonymous grammar host corrected the error. ) |

I speak American English as my mother tongue, and read, write and speak German fluently as a second language.
Did you know that Ohio is the only state in the Union with 4 distinct dialectical regions? I'm starting introductory French at my University next semester. I'll actually be learning it "from" German as opposed to English, so it should be interesting!

Ellen, add me to your list of worshippers; I speak lots of bits and pieces, but can't claim near what you've accomplished. Very impressive.
Anyway, Here goes, I speak: -American -some English, but not well -Italian (when I am around it for a while, it comes back) -Latin (but since it's a dead language, it's hard to find anyone else to talk to. At least there's no one to correct your pronunciation! ) -Romanian (better than English )(DLI is a great place.) -Spanish (I can get by, and the longer I am around it the better I understand & speak) -Pig latin -Double talk -Enough Serb and Albanian to get by. -Octal, Binary & hexadecimal (all dead languages ) Steve zzz |
