I've used Luna for the last few months and had some tremendous reactions to it. I've used it at dinner parties and strolling for a small group, and in an auditorium for a large number of people, and it comes off great. One thing I have observed is that the the entry which is selected from the book can be more or less detailed, and the more detailed it happens to be, the more I "hit" and the stronger the reaction. Presenting this effect takes some additional drama, but the thing I like about it is that is so different from other kinds of mindreading effects. I'd highly recommend it.

I doubt that you will be disappointed. Outlaw has a well-deserved reputation for quality, and my experience was no different.

Oh, yes! This is my "new direction" I am taking! Magic has fallen flat for me. It's all "I know how you did it, I saw it on YouTube..." now. Nope. Not gonna do that no mo'. This is "an experience". So, with that, I just PayPalled Outlaw for all three books.
Let's see, the next one..P*@rly G@tes, and then finally, the L*N@ K*y B*x! Guys, in case you're wondering, I trying to make this Google-proof. Too late for the previous posts, but let's keep it all on the DownLow... Doug |

And, the three books arrived today! And, Rick sent me a .PDF of So Dark, so I have been at this all day. Where do I begin...the books. My gosh...they are authentic! You can really believe these are from the 1930's! Absolutely perfect! I really had no idea until I saw them, just how OLD they appear!
Every page, aged perfectly, and the covers faded just like they would be if they were 76 - 78 years old! I am amazed I actually ran across this! I was not looking for Mentalism or Spooky stuff, in fact the Banner in Tricks & Effects allured me. I have a thing for Goth chicks...I don't know why, I just do. I saw that black-haired beauty peeking out at me every time I went there. So, I clicked on it. Life will never be the same... Doug |

Well, today I tried out 1936. Yeah! It's that easy to do! You really need to brush up on your acting skills though, and be natural. Well...my building's maintainence supervisor had a "religous experience" this morning! Ha!
It was like ten minutes in performance total. In this case, the young girl was scared...of the guy next door! And I described them both in detail. The Supe' was dumbstruck! He was convinced beyond a doubt that our minds had melded! Now he asks if I "do readings" and stuff like that. Ha! No, I don't...just entertainment. Friends, L*n@ is not just one book. It's not just the three books. You'll need P*@rly G@tes as well. Plus the H*bb's L*na K*y B*x with the bell and all the photos and printed material you can make up. I can tell ya, getting the older woman in 1936 is going to go quick, and you will want more to fill out the act. Also look at some other O*tL@w artifacts to add to, or enhance this wonderful routine! Next: I'm learning 1935...let's see how this fits it... Doug |

Doug,
Glad it's going well for you. I only have 1936 but have put it to good use. In fact, will be using it Friday in conjunction with PG. Pearly Gates really does make a positive difference, not only for the extra hits, but for solving the one and only problem I had with Luna and that was the "in". The best ever in this respect is Phantoms imo but it is no longer available. I would strongly advise anyone who does not have it to keep their eyes peeled on the secondary market in case one becomes available. If you love Luna, you will likely have an orgasm when and if you see Phantoms. |

I think a unused 'Phantoms' may be listed on Café,later tonight! I heard it has a pretty good COA number, too!
Won't be cheap...

I've got PG, Phantoms, Lillian's Diary and a couple of other outstanding book tests. I have all three of the Luna books...and you know something? Pound for pound...minute for minute...there is NOTHING stronger for a small group than Luna 1935. It's inspired tears, shivers and pure awe when performed.
I don't do it in large stage shows, although I expect it would play well with the right treatment, but it is utterly jaw-dropping for small groups. I wouldn't trade this effect for a pound of gold. Well....maybe...... The key is presentation and acting. It must be presented FRESH each time you do it -- even if you've performed it twice before that same night. You will blow the doors off your audience when you do it properly. It is absolutely my most treasured effect for small groups. David

Just 1935, David? To repeat, or do you go into '34 & '36 as well? I'm studying 1935 starting tonight. I do plan on PG, no question. Let's do '35, and I'll check back here. I see there is a Wild Card...hmmm.

Personally, I would rather stick with just one Luna and pick up something else like Phantoms, if ever available, or maybe Ipswich or Lillian?
But if you already have 3 Luna's, proceed as you were.......unless you have deep pockets.....then buy em all. |

I only actually perform 1935. I see how PG could work as an intro to Luna...but I am still deciding whether or not I want it use it that way. It is a solid effect, for sure. But if I put it into my Paranormal show, something has to come out.
Here's the thing, Doug: personally I have to guard against the thought process that says "If one is good, two is better." Luna absolutely blows people away...virtually every time. Would I expect STRONGER reactions if I preface it with another book? Perhaps if your show was built around magical books, or the presentation of an eccentric uncle's book collection... But my bottom line question: would the presentation of two books along the same theme weaken the impact of both? Would I ever pull LUNA and put PG in? Not while there's breath in my body. It may just be a case of me feeling completely at home and eternally delighted with LUNA (ie that happy situation of having found the absolute perfectly suited routine to me)...but I don't think so. I grow tired of watching card tricks after just a few minutes...even if the tricks are extraordinary. I'd be concerned the same thing might happen when I take my audiences to a certain bleak and hopeless asylum twice in a row. Is there another prop/routine that delivers surprise after surprise...knockout punch after knock-out punch like LUNA 1935? Nope. This is a routine that takes the audience on an emotional journey...there's discovery...adventure...chills...delicious revelation. It is to book tests what a jaguar is to house cats. How do you improve on that? If I choose to put a new effect into my show, I do it to improve the flow or the show. I am not convinced (and I'm not calling down PG at all) bringing in any other book would accomplish this. That's all I'm saying. And I am writing from an admittedly myopic viewpoint as to what I see working best for me. David

It pays to refresh your knowledge of Luna from time to time if you have not performed it in a while. Just a FYI, don't want to be caught out on it while under fire.
