I'm posting this for a couple of reasons first to show you some good old standards and very simple tricks that can be freshined up for the street and secondly to show what my new pouch design is capable of.
I'm sorry my moves arn't strong and the miming could use a lot of work but I hope it gives you the idea in case you're out of material you can see how you can take old things and rearange them. I have used this as opener to build a crowd and it has worked better then anything I've ever tryed. please watch it and tell me what I need improving on I know it needs work. I hope it helps any beginners. here it is video |

As a beginner I must say that this indeed a beautiful example of how you can make a beautiful routine with just some classics. Although I heard and read many times how entertaining a silk vanish can be, I just understood this by means of your backyard goofin.
Allow me to take the opportunity to learn some new things, by posing some questions: -I really like the music, since it goes very well with the character, but reading your blog I'm pretty sure you don't pack an amplifier. Do you behave differently in the absence of this music e.g. say more yourself? -You say you use it as an opener, does that mean you just start as in the video? -My last question is probably the one I get burned for, yet out of interest I will ask it anyway. I'm really curious how this routine got into this shape. Did you just sat a home thinking or were you goofin in the backyard when suddenly you had this routine. |

Filip VR,
question 1 your right most of the time I don't carry an amp so I just do it silently with a little more energy. and a few more quick statements like "i got it!" or "watch" or "another warm up trick to get a crowd" when I do use an amp this is the one I use I find it the best on the market for what I do. http://www.ospaudio.com/store/pc/viewPrd......duct=255 that single speaker fits in my bag all wireless and allows me to speak while the music plays. it's very loud and the mic is superb for out door use. also I have seen people just use boom box radios which is perfect for the sidewalk. but I don't find them loud enough for the really big pitches. question 2. yes I just start as in the video. of course I time the intro to make sure I catch the largest passing crowds attention. infact no matter what routine I'm doing as an intro I just begin. I never ever "ASK" someone to watch my show....ever. beggars and cons ask. question 3. I am constantly thinking about tricks slieghts and how to routine them. but the real work comes out in constantly goofin with the props. I try and use call backs and limit myself to only using full impact effects, which really limits the amount of stuff you can do, but it's worth it when the spectator has no slow or less impressive moment in the routine to leave. I'm really happy your reading my blog thank you for the interest. I would also suggest that you go back in it's history further that's where my best stuff is for beginners. |

One more thing I think I should add because it's very important.
I can practice all I want at the house but it doesn't mean a thing until I try it on the street under those conditions. so I also do a lot of practicing on the street especally if it's dead and I'm waiting for it to pick up. I'll rinse and repeat all day long till it's right then when someone stops I'll see if it works infront of a captive audience. Cellini said; A YEAR ON THE STREET, IS 10 YEARS IN THE THEATER. |

Jimmy, how's the new bag working out. Can you load from the pouch thru your pockets as you're putting something away?
