Sword swallower Alexander Kensington has just launched a new magic podcast titled Conjurers, Carnies & Collectors, which is now available at his Web site, The National Podcasting Company:
http://www.nationalpodcastingcompany.com This episode features an interview with Canadian magician Thom Barnett, recorded at the St. Louis Pirate Festival (Arrr!), and an interview with me, recorded after a performance of The Magic Cabaret at the Biograph Theater here in Chicago. In addition to being a seasoned trouper, Alex has extensive experience in radio, which is evident in his work on this podcast. He does a great job of putting together a fun and informative show. Alex has big plans for The National Podcasting Company, so go to http://www.nationalpodcastingcompany.com and bookmark the site or subscribe to the RSS feed. The first episode of Conjurers, Carnies & Collectors can currently be listened to by clicking on the link for the episode, and the podcast will soon be available to subscribe to in iTunes. I think this is the start of something very cool. Tune in, turn on, geek out. |

Gotta hear it, thanks!
Have you heard my podcast, BALLYCAST? This could indeed be the start of something. When Ward Hall and Jim Rose start podcasting, I'm gonna give up. |

I think you need to fix your RSS feed. You've got some strange ascii code in it. It won't work in iTunes and only display's the text in my other RSS aggregator. Neither can download the actual show.
Anyone else having luck? I look forward to hearing your show. Welcome to the world of Podcasting. Sounds like we are starting to have a lot more people joining the magic podcast world. Scott |

I just downloaded the mp3 to my desktop and then transfered it to my iPod as part of a playlist. Seems to be working fine.

I switched to Firefox and it works. Seems the issue is with Safari. Can't wait to hear it!

Wayne, I just downloaded all the bayycasts to my iPod with the exception of James' and my own interviews.
There was some sort of error with James' and mine wasn't listed in iTunes. Brett.

Rossmacrae, thanks for letting me know about Ballycast. I'll be sure to check it out!
ScottRSullivan, glad you were able to get to the podcast. Apparently Safari doesn't play nice with other children. Alex and Charon are hoping that Apple sends Safari to the school psychologist. Danny Borneo, do post a comment on the National Podcasting Company site to let Alex know that you enjoyed the show! |

Wow, my comment was flagged by the spam filter and needs to be manually approved. That's very interesting, I wasn't even aware that Charon was involved with this.

David,
Actually, Safari plays VERY well with the other children and is one of the MOST well behaved kids on the playground. You just need to adhere to HTML standards. Here's an analogy. It's like kids today that send text messages like "CUL8TR" instead of "See you later." Internet Explorer and Firefox have such low coding standards, they will try and display the CUL8TR, even if they don't know what it means. Safari is basically saying, you must speak proper English if you want to speak with me. So, the "problem" is that you need to have very clean code for it to work. Internet Explorer and Firefox are more tolerant to 'sloppy' web page coding. The result is that a few missed brackets or incorrect ordering (for example: < b > < you > hello < /b > < / you > will not work in Safari but will work in IE. It should be first in, last out: < b > < you > hello < /u > < /b > instead. Safari just has higher standards for clean code. And all this applies to an XML RSS feed, which is what podcasts use. Sorry for the HTML lesson. Just thought I'd explain why Safari might be having issues. Danny, spam filters must have detected you have a sharp mouth. Or maybe it was just the leftover glass? scott |
