Mike,
Richard Hatch said above that they were already at work on the second volume. So there's two at least.

The printer has notified us that a pallet of the Trost books was shipped to us on Thursday and is due to arrive this Tuesday, March 4th. We'll process the back orders as quickly as possible and if we have your email addresses you'll get several emails to let you know when the book was shipped and the delivery confirmation number/tracking when applicable. We have been amazed at the advance response to the book: As I write this is is already #8 on our cumulative website best-seller list, moving up the the charts with a bullet... and it's not even here yet! Review copies are going out soon as well and should appear in the major magazines in their May issues.

NICK TROST I'm dyslexic, but this book is so well written, I have no problems. I've always been a huge Nick Trost fan and It's wonderful to see him still creating miracles.

I went ahead and picked up both the old (Since it was reprinted and didn't cost me $200) and the new. So far I like them both. I haven't had time to got through each of them completely yet. I just don't have as much time as would like to read. But who does!!

The effects on the DVD and lecture notes are far beyond your abilities. (They require mastery of the mechanic's grip.) It would only break your heart. Sincerely, Darwin Ortiz.......(This post has got to be in my top 5.) |

I know I am bumping an old post, but I didn't find another post that seemed more appropriate to ask this question to. Reading through this book, I was introduced to ESP cards for the first time in print. I do not own a deck of these and am wondering if I am missing something by not having them? On the surface, they seem so foreign to the layman that they almost look like I am using a gaff deck and that there is something inherently suspect about the inclusion of them in my routine. Have people here found success in using them (preferably with any of Trost's routines...if so...which routine) or do people immediately smell something fishy when you pull out an ESP deck?
Thanks, Jim |

Most people have seen ESP cards, if only in the movie Ghostbusters. But even if they haven't, you can introduce them by talking about Dr. Rhine, etc. Say they are used for psychic testing. This, of course, gives you an interesting hook to perform with and makes them intriguing to a spectator.
Plus, the cards can always be examined when you are done with your effect. I think a lot of people would say that the strength of ESP cards is that they are not something most people see every day. Makes them interesting to lay people.

I've revived this old thread because it seems an appropriate place to ask my question. I only have Nick's first book from 1997: The Card Magic of Nick Trost. In it is an effect I like a lot called "Showdown." It does require some gaffed cards and it has a discrepancy. I see that there is a newer effect in the "Subtle Card Creations, Vol 1" that's called "Super Showdown."
Can anyone tell me how it's different from the original Showdown? I was going to share some information about how to get the cards you need and how to correct the discrepancy, but perhaps that was done in the newer book. Dennis Loomis

Pnerd,
I just saw in for sale in the "books for sale section". You will need 50 posts to see it, though. Possibly the person selling will now contact you. Mr. Trost's work is fantastic. Regards, Sean |

As Volume 1 has been sold out for quite some time.
Haines House of Cards has found a few copies. The price shipped is $80. I snapped up a copy as soon as I got the email. As of this post there are 9 copies left. You can get it here: https://haineshouseof.cards/product/subt......olume-1/ Regards, Phil |
