One that made lasting impression was Jack Pyle. He really stressed the showmanship and presentation. I was new to magic and it really influenced me. I still use (with his permission) a small portion of his patter.
Another very good lecture in recent history was Jeff Hobson's Egg Bag lecture at Abbott's. More on presentation than the trick. Richard

I have seen so many over the years that it is hard recall them all. Amongst my favorites would be:
(1) Bev Bergeron (2) Ace Gorham (3) Derek Dingle (4) Jerry Andrus (lectured with "walking pneumonia) Now that's dedication! (5) Petrick & Mia |

On Wednesday I shall be attending my first lecture - John Carney.
I'm excited to go to my first lecture and for it to be by Mr Carney, one of the world's greatest, really is a dream come true. BTW, can anyone give me a few 'pointers' as to what to take etc?

Money for lecture notes and anything else the lecturer may bring along. Cash is best. Generally if a lecturer is selling items there are usually special prices at the lecture and if that is the case and you see something you really want to add to your routine, you want to be prepared. Make sure you get an autograph. Also perhaps a picture with the lecturer. If you enjoyed the lecture, let him know. Most important just be prepared for a great experience.

I have seen Darwin Ortiz lecture three or four times and he always remains a favorite of mine.
But I have to agree with Mike Eaton above, the best I ever saw perform (unfortunately, no lecture) was Del Ray. lcombs |

Cellini stayed about a month in New Orleans when he first started filming the street magic set Kozmo put out.
One day, off the cuff, he gave us locals hanging at the magic shop a lecture about how a magician enters the stage or a room. Made me re-think what a magician is and does. Strong magic, powerful mojo from a master. |

Jay Sankey gives one heck of a lecture. If you ever get the chance to see one, don't pass it up. He's simply outrageous.
Another one of my favourites was Shoot Ogawa, although none of us would have ever been able to do what he was teaching!

I remember Mike Ammar a long, long time ago, showing ( but not teaching ) Shadow Coins. The room went silent.

Dai Vernon 1976 @ The magic Shop in Conn.
Learned more about the 'magic' of magic than any other lecture I've attended. Vernon was the GREATEST!!!!
