Gordon, Yes. Titles would be a better term.

I believe medical knowledge doubles every ten years. Now, most of it is not in book form, but published in journals. But I cannot imagine that magic comes close to medicine in terms of amount written.
What is the color of magic?

Gordon hit it on the head. If you consider number of titles, then even with medicine we still have a good shot. A Medical Journal counts as one title. There are many established medical journals that have released tons of pages, but whereas magicians are happy to subscribe to the latest and greatest (even if their fold in a year) most doctors I would think would prefer something proven more substantial. How many medical journals are there compared to how many magic magazines that have existed, albeit for short runs. Likewise, there may have been dozens of additions and editions of Gray's Anatomy, but that would count as a single title.
Sadly, even a search of the Library of Congress would fail to give us the proper answer as most of our texts never make it to them. Perhaps asking someone like Byron Walker would give us an estimated number of magic titles. Its a fun thing to think about. |

Dr Jeremy Wyatt, Director of the Knowledge Management Center in London states that there are currently between 15,000 and 17,000 different biomedical journals being published. (yikes!)

I'm confused, didn't we already agree that we were publishing less than medicine?

It appears to me that Dr Watts might be referring to individual articles. But I'm not sure. See the discussion at the URL below for more information:

We might agree that it is the hobby with most publications . . .
