Look: I don't think anybody can deny that the Black Ghost Deck is the best looking deck produced. As far as I know, the Black Ghost deck is an exact inverse of the Ghost deck, save for the word "Black" before Ghost on the front of the box. So if you've never seen a Black Ghost, or have never seen a good picture of it, just imagine your Ghost deck reversed and that's the BGD; pretty sick, ain't it? The center pips of the all the non-court cards are white. On the black suits (Spades and Clubs) the indexes are also white. On the red suits (Hearts and Diamonds) the indexes are red with a white ring around the small suit symbol. The backs look great too. The border blends almost seamlessly with the back design which would probably assist with false deals (second, center, bottom, etc.) I've played with the deck for probably 30 or 40 minutes so far and there is no sign of white edges yet. With the Black Tiger and Viper, white edges started to show by this time (for me, at least). All in all, the Black Ghost Deck looks amazing. (9/10)

Feel: The Black Ghost deck feels like a Viper deck, but thicker, yucky. I've never been a fan of thick cards. They're bulky in my hands and make multiple lifts more noticeable. The cards are smooth though and seem to hold together better than other Ellusionist decks. The Black Ghost Deck is the only Ellusionist deck I've been able to perform Lee Asher's Silver Surfer with, with any consistency. Other than that though, the feel of the Black Ghost Deck doesn't appeal to me at all. (4/10)

Bang For Your Buck: WAY overhyped. While the deck does look great and handles reasonably well, it simply is not worth the $350 you have to spend at Ellusionist (or $300 + on eBay) to get it. I was fortunate to get the deck for free so the specific deck I got was worth what I paid. If the second edition Black Ghost Deck is the same quality as it's brother, I think most people will find the deck worth the 7 or 8 bucks. I personally though don't think I will be purchasing any. The deck looks cool, but I really don't like the way it (or any Ellusionist custom deck) feels. Those of you who do like thick cards though, I think, will enjoy the second edition very much. If the second edition really is exactly the same as the first edition except for the price tag, I think people who like the feel of Ellusionist cards will find them very enjoyable. (1/10)

Wrong.

Can you give me an example of a deck of cards that has a better design than the BGD? I'm talking looks, not feel, quality, value or anything like that. And please don't say "Rider Backs are the best looking because spectators are used to them and won't raise any suspicion."

Bicycle Fan Backs
Bicycle Angel Backs
Texan Palmetto's
Bicycle High Wheel
Bee Worm back
Steamboats

.........and MY list goes on and on.

But it really doesn't matter, because ALL opinions on the topic of "what looks best" in any category are subjective by design.

You see, I wasn't saying "wrong" the design isn't the best in your eyes....I was saying "wrong" when you state nobody can deny it.......I CAN, and DO deny it, which makes your statement wrong.
In fact I think they look like crap.

To NOT be wrong, your post needs to start with the phrase "I think the Black Ghost deck is the best looking deck produced".......then it would be impossible for you to be wrong because you in fact DO think it's the best looking deck made, by your very words.

Interesting deck, UV sensitive (er...so what?) and has a nice design over all. Card thickness is the same as all other decks put out by the company. You should "feel" no noticeable difference. It is just another deck that has been designed for the youth market.

Is it the best looking deck? I’d say no. Interesting looking but nothing I’d use for any reason. I’m not a card collector and the inexpensive and easily recognizable bike decks (in the USA) are fine for what I do.

I put these with all those novelty back decks that one used to find in the five and dime stores. In fact I have a deck of Parrot backs that are much better looking than this deck. As said above, it is all subjective. You can have them.

Yeah, I think I used the wrong word to describe the deck. By "best looking" I meant (in my opinion) the most unique and eye catching deck. And I agree, I have no use for the design either, I just think it's interesting. In fact, the only thing I like about the deck is the look. The feel and quality of the cards are quite mediocre.

It is a photo negative deck. The back is basic Bike and not nearly as artistic as those listed by Mr. Silverking. You don't mean it handles well, you don't mean it really is best looking....other than odd what are you saying it is? Is it 'street' because it is black?

Well it does have a nice Ace of Spades! The only red on the cards are the indexes of the red cards. Oh, the jokers are a special design to be clever too!

I like how the border fades in with the rest of the card. This gives you more shade when doing a double lift.

Uh huh.... for all of you who can do a double lift in a bright light raise your hands. So much for 'shade', whatever that term is suppose to mean. I realize I have a couple decks of 'Ghost Decks', they were giving them away at the IBM Convention since they didn't have much else use for 'em.

Hey, I got a "Tiger", "Viper", and "Ghost" deck as give-aways too! I got mine at a small convention last year.

Of course the “Ghost” deck I got is not the new, improved, oh-so-wonderful, and oh-so-esthetically-pleasing "BLACK Ghost" deck (sic). I'll wait until I get one of them free too.

Frankly, none of these decks does anything for me. I think that I’m not the demographic being targeted for these wondertoys!

Shade eh?

I'd be more inclined to work on my doubles rather than get a new deck if I needed THAT much cover Smile

The best part of those decks is watching the real cardmen look at them then toss 'em to someone else.

Just so you all know, I don't like the Black Ghost Deck. I think some of you believe I'm one of those kids who is obsessed with all of Ellusionist's cards and buys all of them because they look cool. Just because I said I liked the look of the cards doesn't mean I like the cards as a whole and use them, because I don't. I give credit where credit is due, and I believe that although the cards themselves, and the price people pay for them are horrendus, the design is quite nice. In fact, the reason I got the Black Ghost Deck is because I'm doing a video project with it. Basically, me and about a dozen magicians are performing with and in the process, destroying the deck to show that it is just a deck of cards. I'm trying to convey the message that the monetary value of the tools you use makes no difference, it is what you DO with them that matters. I hope this cclears up my opinion of the Black Ghost Deck a bit.

The subject is now bad double lifts....

Man, you gotta spend $300 at ellusionist to get this? I'd have to spend $300 more there to qualify!

Yeah it's pretty ridiculous. I think it is actually $350. Most Christmases E has a tier system in which usually the highest, or one of the highest tiers involves receiving a Black Ghost Deck. I believe the first year (2005?) it was $350 worth of E crap to get the cards.
