Anyone tried a standing figure ala Jeff's Melvin and Bubba J?

What are the pros and cons of a standing figure vs a standard figure?

Thanks

I've never worked a hard figure that way, but I've got a latex pirate that I originally planned on using as standing figure. Unfortunately the weight became an issue. Not many people use standing figures, so it offers a different look.

I'm wondering if Jeff has a locking device in the legs. He holds those figures very still, probably a hinged knee....

My pal Ony Carcamo turned one of my figures into a standing figure...it looks different and kinda interesting to use when you have more than one figures in one act...

My first figure is the standard seated figure (old man)...and the second is now a standing figure (bum). It gives the act a visual variety Smile

I made wooden feet and legs for a Dummywork figure I have.
Used 1 1/4 wooden dowels for the legs.

Looks nice...how was the manipulation compared to a seated figure?

The only thing I find different is, the leaning over backwards. Othee movements the same.

I've been practising with my new standing figure...it feels a bit awkward but so far I like the effect Smile

I can imagine doing a show with my standard seated figure followed by my standing figure and the audience willl see the difference in character with a little help from the appearance of the figures to start with... Smile

I noticed Jeff Dunham's Peanut, Bubba J, Melvin and Sweet Daddy D are all standing figures while Walther and Achmed are seated Smile and of course Jose Jalapeno is hand held Smile

The position of the figures (seated or standing) gives variety to the entire act Smile

The same with soft puppets...some are seated, standing, on a bird arm and some are wrapped around the body or neck Smile
