Trivial Pursuit and Balderdash, though my family members get tired of losing.

Yep, I was sucked in for years by games workshop but they are just asking too much with the prices they have. The best of the citadel minature games was Gorkamorka. I also like the fighting fantasy books by Ian Livingstone and Steve Jackson (the creators of the company).

But I've given up on games workshop and now magic sucks all my money out of my pockets.

For me it's Backgammon - a great balance between skill and luck.

Other choices would be Go! or Mah Jong.

Hey,
To all of you that like Balderdash...

I love Balderdash and I found a game that is very similar but, believe it or not, it's better! It is even more fun!

I have no personal connection to this game other than a player.

It's called WISE AND OTHERWISE.

You have to be just as creative. You are given the beginning of an old, unheard-of saying and are asked to finish it.
Seriously, if you like to play Balderdash, get Wise and Otherwise. You will not be disappointed.

Wow, no one said my fave: PENTE!! The simplicity of tic-tac-toe with the strategy of chess.

And it's pretty with low light.

Check it out.

Pente is my favorite board game too.

While it's not a board game, check out “Out of the Box's” "Apples to Apples" for a party game. It’s easy to learn and lends itself to outrageous laughter and table talk.

Chess!

More books have been written about chess than all other books about other games combined!
Humans make life so interesting. Do you know that in a universe so full of wonders, they have managed to create boredom. Quite astonishing.

I agree with Bill. All the others are simply that...games.

Chess is by far the best one of them all. Scrabble must also be up there with it.

Chess is my favorite by far. After that, Diplomacy, Settlers of Catan. I don't think miniature games like Warhammer count as a board game, but I love those too.

I love backgammon, but have also found a great Internet-based version of Scrabble at http://scrabble.practicalpages.com/.
