Last night my son & I went to see Jeff Dunham in Baltimore. He told us he is working on a new Comedy Central Christmas Special, which will tape this June. Since he has to work out the material, we got to see some of it. (His characters had a tough time doing Christmas in February...)
It is going to be hilarious! In addition to the holiday stuff, Jeff had a lot of material that was new and improvised. It amazes me how much material he has written. I'm off to my notebook - gotta get creative! |

My family and I are huge fans of Jeff & his characters. I've seen him perform many times, and it's great to see a sneak peek into his future tv material. My favorite part of his Spark of Insanity dvd was the making of Melvin. Love to see and hear the back story behind his characters and their development.

We saw Jeff Dunham most recently in Dec 2006 here in St. Louis. He was putting the terrorist act together and said we were some of the first to see that. It was at the comedy club and we were at the second table. Everyone in the group laughed until their sides hurt. The guy is naturally hillarious.Hope to see him again next time he is here.

Thanks, tacrowl, I needed a laugh. It does make you think of all the kid books, we could have fun with a puppet.

When we saw Jeff in Bellingham, he turned the Christmas thing into a funny bit where Walter refused to do Christmas jokes in February.
Very funny!

The story of Walter is a source of, ahem, controversy in the vent world. This is not to take anything away from Jeff--I am a huge fan--but the story behind the characters is interesting. Bob |

45mins. of Jeff's Spark of Insanity show is playing on the Comedy channel on cable TV.
I had seen Peanut before but didn't remember the Ventriloquist's name. That is a problem most performers have. "Great act old what's his name has". Obviously this is something Jeff has thought long and hard about. For 5 solid mins Peanut sings, twists, and shouts Jeff DUNHAM's name. It's funny, delivered with a TON of energy, and DRILLS Jeff's name into your head. Brilliant marketing!!! This was way more effective than a simple sign card. I'm sure people left the theatre singing "Jeffffa Dun HAMMMMM". |

Actually, Melvin was created by Kristin L and was on display along with other figures for sale, at her table at the Vegas Vent Festival 4-5 years ago.. Many Vents were interested in him including Dan Horn(I have him on tape doing a bit)before Jeff. Jeff happened to be the one to come up with the cash. Kristin got credit on the DVD because of her craftsmanship.

On Spark of Insanity, in the "extras" section, Jeff documents the building of the Melvin figure used on the show. The costume is the same as the original Melvin, but the head had been redesigned. Same character and material, but different head. Ken |
