Say what you want but angel brought humor to the program. I had tears in my eyes laughing from the guy while geller on the other hand tried to save what he could by stating weird comments about "thought manifestations" etc. brilliant for the insiders:

Regarding what Angel would have said if anyone had gotten 911 and he pulled out that same slip of paper, yes I do think he would have said they were wrong. I think he would have said he had written January 16th in it and pulled it out so it would fit. Holly, I agree with you that Jim could have asked for a third party. He chose to go a different route that I think did him no good whatsoever. From a marketing standpoint though, it could have been a good move. You'd have to ask him for that.

WEEEE HAAAAA
And to answer Luke Jermay After someone had just finished running a quarter Mile race, would it be fair for another person to challenge him to another Quarter Mile race right at the Finish line? Absolutely NOT! Callahan had won the race and CA wanted him to perform immediately AGAIN. DJM called this one correctly No one else was asked to perform again immediately and Jim was the only one who gave ANY kind of a disclaimer calling his act "Entertainment"! I suppose if Jim was tired he could have posted what was in the envelope the next day on his web site?

Had this poorly conceived and crafted special by done yeas ago - with William Shattner as host Jim and everyone else and more bizzare things would most likely have gone on air without the dramatic (???) incident - they would have presented bending, seance, telepathy etc... it was the current poor production value and the chips on the shoulders and the pr campaign etc that allowed this schlock to air. Matter of right time and place and probably little else. Phenom... was bad TV, and a blight for our entertainment, and one I would hope fades quite quickly. Sadly, since the internet is in place this and exposure etc will live forever when it should simply die quickly...

Canasta? any of the true giants of mentalism? or would they have more class than that? I don't blame anyone for going on phenom to raise their profile, as, in lots of ways, you'd potentially get more bookings, become more famous...but how will people remember you? "oh yeah - its' you! the guy that got *however far* in that show..." But that 15 minutes of fame quickly ticks away - til you're left with what? a faded memory or a broken dream...with a few extra dollars in the bank... I've only seen bits n pieces on the web of the show, it seemed all too glossy and shiny to me, not real and interesting enough in my opinion to capture the audience's imagination... |

Arnon, yes I can attest to all three.
That proves nothing though and just people trying to figure out methods and that is unfair so this is my last say on this. I just was not real cool with my name being used out of context and in the same way that bad misleading magic advertisments are written and wanted to correct that otherwise I would not have spoke up at all.

I suppose it all depends on whether it was scripted or not - if Jim was sideswiped by CA in this - had NO idea it was coming - then a reply in the heat of the moment - whatever that reply may have been - was not well thought out as it may have been otherwise. In the heat - any of us - may repsond for better or for worse. Whatever was was -
I wan't there in person, not privy to what actually transpired and haven't the version from all sides soooooo I can only conclude let sleeping dogs lie --- no need to attack a performer for not living up to our expectations. I may have done the same, or far worse in that situation - I can only conjecture. Slack - I think that would be appropriate here. Quote:

I agree that the format was the problem. However, the problem with that is, if they hadn't used THAT format, I'm assuming the show never would have made it on the air in the first place. So whadya gonna do?
Magic/Mentalism (fingers crossed I won't set off a 10 page thread on why it should be billed as Mentalism/Magic), in this case, was just another of the many interchangable pretexts used to grind people's noses in another reality/competion genre piece d'resistance. Still, once I had been suckered into watching by the publicity surrounding Jim's outburst (I had heard of the show previous to that, but assumed it wouldn't be worth going out of my way to watch it) I did remain a captive audience until the end. Beggars can't be choosers. |

[As for the idea that "if you can't prove it, I did it" lets not even relly get bogged down in that silliness.
A nondissprovable theory does not make for a fact. Sorry Jim and clan.

No one is defending James/Jim/J ack all I am stating is that you people are badgering him. I mean bash the man on his lack of methodology for his effect. Bash Jim for exploiting 15 minutes into 5 months of pseudo-fame. Bash his lack of originality in revamping card tricks into mentalism. Bash him for his over acting. Bash him and his cronies on their serendipitous use of this board to sell their slimy products.
BUT, do not take over this post and try and belittle the man for trying his darndest. Fame is the name of show business kiddies. Out of those "stars" maybe 2-3 names will stand out and Ehud, the MENTALIST, and Bavli wont be amongst those names, Jim might! |

One thing...Other than that host guy, Criss Angel was the only person NOT performing on the show...Even Geller did something...That certainly means something to me.

That effect Uri performed was painful at best. The whole special had lack of reasoning. The same reason Copperfields tv ratings are down. We don't believe it on tv. David Blaine brought it to the streets and made it real, and there was an ending to each show. The miraculous stunt.
Now phenomenon needs- 1. A reason 2. Original presentations 3. Interviews and behind the scenes 4. Plots for each effect and reasons as to why they are performed 5. Charisma Maybe issuing Henning Nelms Magic and showmanship would give ideas as to why to perform as a psychic and how to frame materials. |
