Got mine yesterday and I must echo the positive statements of the previous reviews. ( This is because I have no original thoughts in my head!) Seriously though, great stuff from Alakazam, keep up the good work. There are soooooo many possibilities with this. I'll let ya know how it goes once I've 'roadtested' it on the missus!

I bought one of these and think it's ingenious. A very, very clever utility device. The routines that can be born out of this are only limited by your imagination. And let me point out, this is not just a magicians device, mentalists can use this too for creating some very strong mentalism.
One initial thought on watching the DVD for anyone who feels uncomfortable about the blatant placement of the card in the pocket in Nardi's routine (not that you should feel uncomfortable as the misdirection is so strong). However, it seems quite neat (to me) to use the method that Nardi used to explain the alternative deck switch using the jacket cover, to instead load the selection after retrieving the pen. Totally invisible and fits well in the structure of the routine. Andrew |

How robust is the gimmick? Anything made from cardboard has a limited shelf life.

Using The Extractor, is there any way to perform the steal of more than one card and apply it to a routine like Ortiz's 'Unholy Three'? Or perhaps perform a 'Travellers' type plot with 4 signed cards?
Apologies if this question has been posed before. Thanks in advance! Stay safe, Logan

Back to the DVD, perhaps Marc will explain to us the significance of the thumb tips; (though I do suspect there may be no significance whatsoever )
Andi: The gimmick is not just made of cardboard. Logan: Yes. |

Gah, I want mine to come in already. The only thing that I'm more excited about is the elusive Paul Harris set. Then again, I haven't paid for that one yet haha.

I've seen the demo's and read about half this thread, and am NOT impressed. I can do an equal if not better version of this trick with just a stripper deck, and I'm an amateur card magician.

I'd love to see you put your stripper deck in it's case Mr. Baggins, and have a chosen card FREELY inserted either way around and the pack closed up and pocketed. I'd love to see where you go from there. No, really!

The stripper deck, including the case, is examinable. Is the extractor's card case examinable? With the stripper it would be a freely chosen card, and the spectator themselves could shuffle the deck. The case would be closed as well. The trick wouldn't be EXACTLY the same. But close enough, and with the added convincer of the spectator handling the case and shuffling the deck, minus the added $95, makes this a better alternative for me. It's possible there are other tricks out there with this utility device that a stripper can't accomplish, but from the looks of it I doubt it. If anyone wants to put me in my place pm me and I'll give you my opinion on what the utility device is and you can just tell me if I'm wrong without exposing the method. Actually, I appreciate the demo because it gave me this idea of using a stripper deck in this way. But yes there are fairly easy ways of having a freely selected card from a stripper deck enclosed in it's case appear in another pocket.
Anyways, I don't wanna put down the creator or this effect. It would be easier using the extractor, I just don't think its as revolutionary or mind boggling as most seem to suggest it is. Hell if I had the $ I'd buy one! |

Well stated Peter!
Baggins you just keep on frying your spectator's with the Stripper Deck, and the rest of us will use The Extractor. Although I must say, your alternative method for using the Stripper really killed us all. Why didn't I think of that??? Cheers Alex

I have an even cheaper method! It involves a nightstick and a regular pack of cards... after the spec takes a card... you smack the fellow over the head - when they wake up the card is anywhere you want it to be..... wait wait... ooops... wait! First have them place it back in the deck, THEN whack them over da head.
Here is even a cheaper version: Tell the spectator to name any card... whack them over the head and stigmata-there arm... when they wake up, have them rub the noggin and the arm and lo and behold the card ended up under their skin.... now you don't need the card deck! Hmmm... even cheaper... just tell them to name a card, sit on the floor, and close there eyes and meditate - then kick them in the head... now, you don't even have to buy a nightstick or a sap! NB: There's something very important I forgot to tell you. Dr. Peter Venkman: What? DO NOT DO THIS AT HOME - THE POSTER WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR SILLY PEOPLE ATTEMPTING THE ABOVE METHODS. Dr. Peter Venkman: Why? It would be bad. Dr. Peter Venkman: I'm fuzzy on the whole good/bad thing. What do you mean, "bad"? Try to imagine all life as you know it stopping instantaneously and every molecule in your body exploding at the speed of light. Dr Ray Stantz: Total protonic reversal. Dr. Peter Venkman: Right. That's bad. Okay. All right. Important safety tip.
