I have heard about memory wipe effects by Richard Sanders and Basil Horwitz.
Could someone please tell me where can I find them? Thanks in advance. |

I don't know their particular memory wipe effects, but Kenton Knepper has a particularly good one in his book, "7 Deceptions".

Actually, Knepper owns the rights to 7 Deceptions, but the actual author of the book is Luke Jermay (who happens to be a Café member.)
Regardless, I highly recommend 7 Deceptions to any solid performer. The effects in there are KILLER, but they are NOT easy, do NOT always work, and take GUTS to pull off. Consider yourself warned.

Jay Sankey and Richard Sanders have an effect in When Creators Collide (from the 80's) named Thought Thief. Mr Jermay's effect is very similar to this one.

And what about the Basil Horwitz effect?

This is true: I was playing around with mind wiping effects and working out language to use. I tend to get obsessed with things in general. Anyway, I was on my way up town to meet my mates for a night out on the town. I had to go to the bank to get some cash out and couldn't remember my PIN number which I've had for years and years! Thinking about mind wiping had actually made me forget my PIN number!
I had to go back in the bar and tell them the tellers were out of order and borrow money. I was to embarrassed to to tell them. It was a couple hours later before I could remember my PIN number!!!! |

Yeah, it's called RGM by Luke Jermay. As mentioned, it's not 100%. But even if you do mess up, the audience believes that they were made to think of a different card somehow if you present it correctly, as the card is different from the one they name.
Very strong effect when it does work, however. Simon |

Hi,
I don't know if I can add any thing more to this discussion but before reading any of KI's material I read "Monsters and Magic Sticks: there's no such thing as hypnotism"! This reads like many of KK's works but from a therapist's point of view! I believe you could perform KK's effects (or effects you create from this type of thinking) 100% of the time if you really knew how to work with people! Therapists perform miracles all the time. I guess it takes that kind of committment! I personally would like to achieve that!
Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one.

Right on, Jasper. Monsters and Magic Sticks is a tremendous introduction for people who want to use language, NLP, and suggestions in their work. It presents a real framework for what can be achieved. Somebody on this forum wrote that 'the written word' couldn't cause trance.
This book is famous for doing just that. BUT if you have that belief deep inside you, or perhaps that it may or may not, then it may or may not work for you...unless... of course...you read it a few times...in which case you may...just notice...that as you just sit there...letting your eyes drift over the pages...the more one thinks about it... the more one begins to notice...those things that you usually notice...or don't bother to... if you prefer not to.... |
