I am looking for a mentalism Card effect where I NEVER touch the cards. It must be impromptu. I would like to give the cards to a spectator in the box and never touch them again. Please remember that I want it to be completly impromptu. Can anyone turn me in the right direction? Thanks in advance.

Look for a mentalism card trick done over the phone.

"KENT" by John Mahood/Kenton Knepper (you never touch the cards).
If you buy that, then my "(k?nt)" (no one touches cards) Both are impromptu! Sean |

I would have recommended K?NT too but you said you wanted cards
If you are happy to have an impromptu thought of card and you name it routine without cards then you should have a look at Sean Waters work Ponderings. There is also another psychological card force routine in Ponderings that works perfectly alongside. In an impromptu situation then why not add to that KK. They just think of a number or just start dealing the ntouched cards cards and stop whenever they want. You pull that card out of your wallet. Either way adding some purely thought of routines to your repertoire makes impromptu moments much easier to handle. Sean Waters has breathed new life into Kenton Kneppers KENT. Adding two twists, the principles of both you might be familiar with, he has come up with a no cards card prediction that has so far for me proved infallible and played well. I have found that doing K?NT with two people at once is even better. It is easy to play the questions off the same way you might in a tossed out deck routine. Having two people involved strengthens the effect at every phase. Anthony

Oyama (and anyone else interested in this topic)
I think you should check out Mr Water's "Ponderings" as well. (Sorry Sean, I know you hate it when I call you "Mr." but it truly is just a matter of respect) Sean is probably too nice and humble to point this out so allow me: I feel you will get effects from Ponderings that are even BETTER than the situation you are looking for. And you will get MUCH more to work with as well. Mostly, you will find that you have been placed on a launching pad that will slingshot your own innate creativity to places you probably have not thought of before. I know this post may read as hyperbolic, but you will see that it's not by reading thoughts of others by typing "Ponderings" in the search box. I have never met Sean face to face, but his creative voice is so welcoming that I feel as if I have known him for years. As you can tell, I really like this book. Don't take my word for it, ask around. I am sure you will find that others will have the same level of appreciation for this work. And talk about hands off, you don't even have to have a physical deck at hand. You can just tell them which card they are thinking of. DT3 |

As Sean has already pointed out, K.E.N.T. by John Mahood fulfils your criteria. In this effect, a spectator removes five random cards from a deck and thinks of any one of them, and the mentalist then divines the value of the selected card (without, I should add, knowing which five cards the spectator had removed). The effect can be performed impromptu, the spectator can use their own deck of cards, and you never need touch the deck.
Bob Farmer also has an effect, based on his Tsunami, in which not only the value but also the suit of the chosen card is revealed. He posted the method on the net a few years ago - it's free, gratis and for nothing if you can find it. I’d also recommend Sean Waters’ excellent variation on K.E.N.T. in his ebook Ponderings. In his handling, you don't even need to use a deck of cards; the entire selection process is carried out in the spectator's mind. You will, however, need to already know either K.E.N.T. or Bob Farmer's effect to use this variation.

By the way, Reality Phone Experience by Mick is found in his book "Predictabilities" which is a full mentalism act sold for not near enough money (sorry Mick, but you know it's true).

There is a cool CAAN effect using 27 cards over the phone or impromptu in person (No slights since I can't do any)
