I saw a TV program a few years ago in which they went to catch 'the worlds largest snake'. They caught what they caught what they claimed was the largest, though from what I recall it looks smaller than the one in that vid. Then they killed and ate it.

It sure is big but from the looks of the girth that is not the biggest. I think I have two here that are bigger.

Looked like a Burmese to me and pretty large....if it were captured (I very much doubt it)It would not be so dosile,,,,looked as though it was very tame and proberly force fed.
My Burmese was 24ft long and came in at three stone,,,far too large to handle with ease on stage but good for blowoff pics and lectures. Ken |

Wow...That is a beautiful beastie! Not a huge Hannah fan, but the snake is gorgeous.
I will admit, I loved seeing Jack Hannah jump in surprise. Gwyd |

Hi petekoloz
I have not read all of the new laws in proposal but I have read many posts on them and I have such mixed feelings. Some of the laws can be a total waste but at the same time I am in the belief that we need to do something. People have been so irresponsible with pet ownership that something must be done. I just don’t think these laws are the answer. I am leaning toward all reptile owners getting licensed and then being totally responsible for their pets. I hate the idea of forced micro chipping but I do not have an answer on what else to do any more. But heck, people don’t care for their own children anymore so there you go... I would love to see pictures of your snakes sometime. Hugs and Hissessss, Maria |

As for your views on what regulations would be appropriate I would not presume to question them. You seem intelligent and informed on the subject (you know a retic when you see one). You are certainly entitled to your opinion whether it agrees with mine or not. The important thing,I feel,is that folks who genuinely care about this subject voice their feeling and submit relevent commentary to the FWS website. It is too late to influence policy after the new regs are in place. We have 'till april 30 to submit comments. Here is a link to a photo of Lucy: http://www.sideshowworld.com/SSP-Strongworm.html I acquired Lucy in Michigan in 1993. A couple of guys brought her out to the fair and insisted I buy her. They wanted too much money and I said "not interested." They kept insisting I at least take a look-I said OK. Back of a pickup truck-filthy cage-filthy little 9 ft snake with open sores. I felt sickened. I said "I'll take it." I paid them their $175.00 without another word. One of the guys picked up a piece of steel pipe with 1/4" steel cable passed through it as a noose and started for the snake. That explained the open sores on the snake. I told the guy that the pipe wasn't necessary. They said "the snake will bite you." I said I didn't blame the snake a bit. Sure enough, she was defensive. I handled her gently and didn't get bit. I took her back to my snakeshow and bathed her gently. I dressed her wounds and about a year later she was healed up. To this day she remains a highly regarded member of our team. She is also a gentle, cooperative snake. In that photo titled "Strongworm" you see Lucy in my left hand. In my right hand, out of sight,is the head of Wormy. Wormy is another Burm the same size as Lucy. The picture is a spoof. It was taken last year. Best, Pete. |

So, Pete.
Did you take any pictures of the snake swallowing the dog? After all, it was dead, and you didn't want to retreive it. B.
