Sadie Hawkins day is the day that unmarried women are free to chase down and catch a man, so be very wary of a woman trying to tackle you and take you home with her at your local convience store today.

Now this is fascinating. We have a tradition a bit like that here in Finland. Here on this day (known as "the escape day"-a direct translation) women are allowed to propose to men. If the guy should say no, he must buy the gal cloth for a dress. Though I have heard it happening only once during modern times and even that was in the 50s. Its a good thing I play for the other team so I'd be safe anyway

Is Sadie Hawkins day always on "leap day"? Or is it just the last day of Feb?
UPDATE: I looked around and this site says today is not Sadie Hawkins day. But I've heard other people talking about it today as well, not just this thread. So I don't know what to believe. http://www.leapyearday.com/February29isN......sDay.htm

Actually I really need to be...I gotta pick up my better half from work and I have to leave the house before midnight. Fantastic. Its gonna be "Run magician, run". Well, if you don't see me online for the next 4 years, you know I ran into every woman in town and will be working 24/7 (propably even in the afterlife) to pay for all their dresses!

Al Capp who wrote Lil Abner was a folk hero in the 50's who turned into a Troll in the late 60's because he could not deal with, or understand the love generation, and when he died in 1979 he was nothing more than an old fart that people made fun of.

Sadie Hawkins day was November 15, 1937, and February 29 is leap day. For some unexplained mix up people think it is February 29, and I am one of those mixed up people.
Happy leap day everyone
