If you haven't already purchased John Bannon's "Royal Scam", the may I suggest that you plop down the money and get your hands on one! He gets a maximum of mileage out of a packet of ungaffed cards!
Man, John has outdone himself on this one. It's really That good! The plot is as follows. You display several red backed ace of spades. You follow by doing a twisting routine where by placing one face up ace among a packet of face down aces, they instantly all turn face up. Then you repeat by placing one face down ace among the face up packet, they instantly all follow suit. This is repeated until the packet is exhausted. Great stuff, but nothing new so far. The double payoff comes as you slowly turn over four of the previous red backed aces to show that they now have black, purple, orange and green backs of varying designs! But you are not done yet. For climax two, you turn over the remaining aces to reveal they have transformed into to a royal flush in spades! Then you gloriously slide the cards forward (NO switching!) and the spectator may examine them to their hearts content! This routine is a keeper! The sleights are basic, with a small variation of one false count which we all know. The routine is not complicated by any means, and a couple of super simple sleights accomplish everything. The beauty of the routine is in it's cleanness. It is so WELL designed and thought out, that the DECEPTION is entwined with the routineing. Without any knucklebusting, you are able to accomplish a stunning deception in which everything seems so very innocent and above board. What I'm conveying is that the spectator is led straight down the proverbial garden path. They are totally convinced that you are using nothing but red backed ace of spades. After all, that is the only thing they see repeatedly throughout the entire routine. (Clever devil, that John Bannon!) The idea of red back ace of spades is subtly drilled into their subconscious, until, when you do the reveal, their is no way for them to back track. The sting truly kills. Once you understand the basic routineing, and the sleights involved, you should have the mechanics mastered in a couple hours or less. I know I did. Memorization of the sequence is a snap. The icing on the cake is your option of letting them grab the cards and try to find the secret. They will surely want to! But the cards are totally ungaffed, and they will not find a stinkin' thing. You get to bask in the glory. Simply beautiful! And the reset, by the way, is minimal. John includes an e-book on the DVD that you can peruse on your P.C., if you are so inclined, so I would have to concede that he has been very thorough, and has not left anything to chance, as far as your learning curve. All in all, a truly high quality product, to be sure. So for your money, you get the DVD, all necessary cards, and an e-book. Not a bad deal for fifteen bucks! In fact, this is a great deal! And if you have not purchased yet, you are simply "missing out." on an effect that is a worker, and that you will likely be performing for years to come. Royal Scam has so much going for it, that I have to give it a perfect ten. Thanks John, for releasing this! It's too good! You truly should have kept this all for yourself! Enjoy!

But as I said, the memorization is a snap, because it all flows so logically. I memorized the entire thing in an hour or two, and got it down solid.

My guess is that he found out the answer and then shared it here so that a) others with the same question would find the answer and b) others who knew the answer would not have to go to the trouble of responding. All in all, a pretty considerate thing to do. Thanks! I also agree that Royal Scam is a great addition to the repertoire! Bob Day 16

Oh, and by the way, "flawless" is an excellent choice of words! I couldn't have said it better myself! (In fact I didn't, but I wish I did. I sure tried!)
Most magic effects have at least one flaw, but this effect seems to break the rules. ESPECIALLY when you push the cards forward for them to look at!

Thanks for the nice review Daffydoug.
