To clarify, my Bob's Your Uncle routine does not use a b****m d**l. The card pairs can be re-displayed from the top of the packet if desired (this is discussed in the book), but I prefer to do so from the bottom because that's the order in which the participant matched them... to do otherwise would be to confuse this order, IMO. I want to remove any potential confusion about what happened (and, incidentally, duplicate the original Zener protocols as closely as possible).

My two favourite versions of the Zener card matching test are my own (for an any time, anywhere ungaffed version, that can also use playing cards if necessary) and Bob King's Miracle Match (for a gaffed version). I generally do this as part of a more fleshed-out Zener card routine, where all the cards are handled by the participant, and thus can't be gaffed.

You can read others' opinions of this effect here.

Trickshop has a manuscript called "The Zenner Effect", which is based on David Britland's "Zennerism". Britland gave them permission to include his original manuscript along with their modified version. There's a "move" involved, but it's not much and it's done at an auspicious moment. Totally impromptu and can be done with playing cards.

They're not paying me commission or anything. Just thought I'd mention it.

There are many tricks, and many effects, but rarely a Grand Effect. There are many entertainers, but few real magicians. Many technicians, but few artists who use their art to explore their vision. - Derren Brown, Absolute Magic

It's really good.

Dyment, cassidy, murray all have versions of this "original ESP test" its as old as the cards themselves,

Looch has a unbelievable ESP card routine called "wake up Dr Rhine" which ends in a perfect match eveytime. I wholehearedly recommend you contact him to get a copy he posts over @ http://www.mentalismplus.com

There is a nice version of this effect in Jon Tremaine's Close Up Mentalism video. I wasn't crazy about the ending so I modified it to suit me alittel better.

Derren Brown does a similar thing in one of his Mindcontrol specials.
We can't really reveal secrets here, but I will just say that the effect done two times in a row will not always look the same.
For me, the DB approach is direct, simple, and devastating for the spec.
After watching DB, I decided that it is the best ESP match routine that (at least) I know.
My recommendation is to watch the clip several times then don't go back to it. Think about the possible solutions and develop your own presentation.

I watched Derren routine also. He asked the spectator to think of one symbol, then he put down one card. He asked what the spectator think of. They matched. He,then, repeated one more. MATCHED again.
Are you guy talking this samiliar version?

Barrie Richardson has a superb way of
getting into this effect too.
It's in his books.

I really like Doug Dyments method. Repeatable, very easy to learn and with a bit of thought can even be modified to your own tastes (more cards, all face down and gaffed or even two piles using extra move at the end)

I like Extra Sensory Perception by Rolf Andra. Of the two routines in this packet effect, I prefer the second. It is very direct.
