Well not my number one favorite, but one of them. The Book Neuromancer by William Gibson is being made into a movie. That isn't what bothers me. What does bother me is that poor excuse for an actor, Hayden Christensen, is apparently going to play the lead roll of Case in the move... And to add insult to injury, the director, Joseph Kahn, is the same guy who directed the movie "Torque."
*Sigh*

Patience Joey,
Years ago I was really miffed that they chose comic actor Michael Keaton to star in the first Batman. I had such low expectations that it was a very pleasant surprise to see how great he did. Have some faith ... you never know. Best, Tim Day 3 |

Also, Joseph Kahn directed many Music videos including the seminal "Thong Song" by Sisqó.

One time, when I was young, I botched a sleight so bad, Vernon, Marlo & Miller rolled over in their graves. But I didn't see Elmsley, probably because he was behind the others.

I never want to see my favorite novels made into movies. They always get butchered After The Fountainhead came out and she saw how badly they botched it, Ayn Rand absolutely forbade any of her other books to be made into movies. Until recently her estate had done a good job of carrying out that wish. Until they recently sold the movie rights to Atlas Shrugged, of all people, Angelina Jolie.

I liked what they did with "The Princess Bride," but that's about the only one.

Lord of the Rings was about as good a job as you could possibly do in translating that incredible tome for the screen.

It's a great book and I agree, that's terrible news. But "Neuromancer" has been in and out of development for years, and the IMDB page has little information on the film, so it's quite possible that it's still in development and may never happen.

Nobody makes any money off a Hollywood movie. Not if they take a percentage. Magical bookkeeping tricks keep all movies from ever making any money. Lots of high-ticket actors and directors have found that out the hard way. Bottom line advice: if you're ever involved in the production of a Hollywood movie, get your money up front.

That story kind of depends on how they do the the Finn and Molly - and how the Wintermute presense is depicted.

What Bugjack has just said is very true, the original rights were bought to the film years and years ago and people keep coming along and picking it up and then dropping it again. Although Chris Cunningham would have been an excellent director for it
I really hope if they are going through with it they treat it with a little respect (as I love that book dearly) and the fan base for it will be hardcore :/ |

Funny thing is you pretty much do judge comic books by their covers.

FYI there's a pretty good graphic novel interpretation of the first half of Neruomancer. Should still be in print.
and hold onto your hats folks, next summer The Watchmen is due in theaters.
