Hey guys! I'm sure by now most of us that own sub trunks have found more than one usage for the trunk. Table tops, storage spaces, locking your mother-in-law and of course when the need arises, your illusion show. Well, getting serious, I've performed my subtrunk in situations where I could use a Back T**P. Mine is a Top T*a* but I've had my fair share of shows where I could execute the effect much faster. So, here's the question...Has anyone built a trunk based on an idea of having two entry options based on location. Both a top and Back *R*p. What do you think are the pros and cons? Getting audience members to check the trunk is not an issue. SPectators can bang on the top of a top loader trunk and still not know there is a **ap. Any ideas? COmments? Hit this thread hard!

Trunks with two traps are not new. I have seen quite a few and almost always, the two traps are not used based on location but rather simultanously to speed up the exchange.

How does two traps speed up the exchange? I realy think all you need is one trap.

That you can go out for other one and your assistant can go in for the other same time. That what I think... I might be wrong too...

Should be no issue to have a unit with two gimmicks.

2 t**** don't speed up the exchange and it's more risky!
The best is to use a top t*** - this is what all the pros use ( Hans Klok, Pendragons, Doug Henning, Siegfried & Roy,...) and for a good reason! Of course you need to practice a lot ;-) Rafael |

Wait, wait, the pendragons and hans klok use a top T**P? it cant be... can it? They do it too fast for it to be so. Any vids of Hans performing it??

Top t** is more practical, but back T** is def faster! The Pendragons use a back T** and Klok uses a top T**. Two T*** on one trunk still don't make sense to me and I think it would actualy slow things down rather than speed it up.

Dear Swann101,
A little correction: the Pendragons also use a top t*** ! Kind regards, Rafael |

Rafael,
Hey Brother, how is Europe? I miss Germany a lot. Where are you at? Anyway, I believe that the pendragons use both. As one comes up the back the other falls in from the top. I may be wrong though. It won't be the first time. LOL! BYUDAD |

I'd like to know who is holding the curtain while both magician and assistant make the switch simultaneously? Think about it. And if it's a fixed curtain I think it loses something.

Hi Byudad,
I'm in Belgium. No, the Pendragons don't use both, I've seen their sub trunk up close and also saw them performing it while standing backstage. (their switch is a work of art, even looking at it from behind the curtain is amazing)Jonathan sometimes tells about his sub trunk at lectures (I think he even talks about it in an interview he did for a magazine - possibly Genii) Rafael |

Hi!
a friend of mine made a sub trunk that has both the top and the back gimmicked. he's using it every show and its good, he's using the top t*a* when the angle of the staging is quite dangerous and he's using the back T*a* when he control the stage. its a good use for both gimmick though. thank you!

And even if he hadn't seen it up close, you could have looked at some of their T.V. appearances where you still see it in the process of being closed (on more than one occasion).

Is any one here willing to share how the pendragons can possibly do such a fast switch with a top trap? I personally don't think it's possible...

The PenDragons can do the switch so FAST because of Hard Work and a awful Lot of Practice. not to mention but their trunk is custom made.

Hi Rafael, never new they used a top T**. I have seen them using a back T** about 15 years ago, so maybe they have used both methods. Interresting either way.
