My thoughts have been with my dance teacher Patsy Swayze, mother of Patrick Swayze. As everyone knows by now, he has cancer. He is such a low profile person and you hardly every hear anything bad about him unlike his co-star from the Outsiders, Tom Cruise.
He is a fighter, so let’s hope that he can beat this, even though the odds are against him. |

Thank God my mother isn't alive to see this day. While I babysat her in her final days she made me watch his movies every day. When I see him I think of her.

I hear that he'll probably survive since the amount of cancer is small and he is responding well to treatments, but let's still keep him in our prayers, just in case.

The doctor is hopeful, but history shows otherwise. There is a guy that was on Inside Edition last night that has survived more than five years with Pancreatic Cancer. Five years is the bench mark. Patrick or Buddy as we call him, is still young. But so was Michael Landon. This is the 21st century, so maybe things will be different for Buddy.

What would Wavy do?

Other reports say that is not true. Until I hear from his mother, I won't believe any of it. I should know soon.

That is what killed my best friend at 39. I wish him, and everyone fighting cancer, luck.

This is true. They just want a story. The entertainment programs have been a lit bit better on this, but the rags like the New York Post have been writing anything that sounds good.

The article I read said that only 5% make it to 5 years, post-diagnosis.
Cancer is an insidious disease.
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

You know, I don't wish for anybody to have cancer.
But I have always hated Patrick Swayze and every movie I've ever seen him in. I don't mean I hate the man, and God bless him and I hope he beats the cancer and lives to be 150. But holy firecrackers: Dirty Dancing may be one of the worst movies ever made in the history of cinema. I would rather you surgically remove one of my testicles than force me to watch that movie again. And Roadhouse? I'd rather have the flu. But perhaps the stupidest movie ever made had him in it: Red Dawn. Now THAT is a good movie, because it is so dumb and ridiculous and stupid and idiotic that it's almost cool. So I'll give Patrick credit for that. It ranks up there with Plan 9 and that Santa movie with Pia Zadorra. Please, don't get me wrong: when anyone has cancer I hope they beat it. Really, I do. But...a Patrick Swayze fan club? I must puke! Let the man deal with his cancer, and I wish him the best. But Dirty Dancing and Red Dawn? Good Grief! Swayze's legacy is a pile of crap. Jeff |

His movies may not be Oscar material, but he is a well trained dancer. And he does take his acting seriously. He always talked about the classes he took and really get into the technique. I think his problem is he doesn't read scripts well. His best movie is Ghost.

I hated Ghost, too. I cried, because I'm a softie who cries during movies all the time. But I hated myself for crying, and hated Patrick Swayze and HOLY LORD ALMIGHTY I hated that bi*ch Demi Moore in that movie. Yes, I cried and I hated myself more than I hated Pat and Demi, because the movie sucked and I sucked for being moved by it.
Cancer sucks most of all. I lost a very good friend about a year ago to cancer, so while I make fun of Patrick and his stupid movies (ROADHOUSE! give me a break!), I do have sympathy for him. Even terrible actors (but great dancers) don't deserve cancer. None of us do. Jeff |

Not a big fan of the films myself. I did laugh at Red Dawn but merely saw the others as aimed at a different fan base and not as bad movies. Dirty Dancing was a HUGE it if I remember correctly so obviously a lot of people liked it.
Even if the movies weren't my taste I never saw him as a bad actor. GHOST was the film that made me a Swayze fan. I liked every aspect about it. The theme, the story, the music and the plot. It's probably my favorite Demi performance so I guess Jeff and I will have to disagree there. Ghost was also a major hit at the box office. I wish him well. Best, Tim Day 7 |

My mom and I watched that cival war made for TV series together more than ten times. I was not a big fan of that mini series.

I've always enjoyed Patrick Swayze's movies. Ghost, of course , was great. But, I liked the fight scenes in Roadhouse and his dancing in Dirty Dancing.
I'm always a little sad when an actor I've enjoyed over the years becomes seriously ill. It's almost as if they've been a close friend. I wish him well. |

I had testicular cancer last year and had one removed. Give me a lousy movie to watch any day.

On the news, the head of the American Pancreatic Association put it this way:
"There is no celebrity spokesperson for pancreatic cancer, because by the time they find out they have it, it's too late for them to become a spokesperson." |
