Most of my non magic friends thing CA and David Blaine are excellent. Doesn't mean I adore them. This is a discussion of opinions and a very humorous one at that. Let's not take it too seriously. PS It would be very funny to see Dannydoyle and MagicSanta have a go at CA if he ever did decide to post on this forum. Balducci would supply the links. I'd have a great time reading. |

OMG! I had forgotten the episode with Peter Brady being a magician! (It was one of the few episodes I actually sat through. I HATED the Brady Bunch!)
I also forgot Jethro's little excursion into magic, accidently producing Miss Hathaway at the end! Alexander Munday isn't up there with those two, but still he wasn't all that great! All "style and poise," no substance.

That's right. It was Peter. He was my inspiration into magic.

As he got to the rabbit trick and said; "Watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat!" Rocky responded; "This sounds familiar!" I can't find that one, sorry. If we're back on "bad, fictional" magicians, how about the magician Carl Ballatine playing on "Night Court"?

Actually, Carl Ballantine had a well respected, but not very lucrative, "straight" magic act, before he realized that he could make much more money creating great comedy from bad magic.

I vote for Charles E. Winchester III from mash. In the episode "dreams" he played a magician who is performing while his patient is dying.

I remember Radar doing magic on MASH as well. He does a horrible production of feather flowers from his sleeve, and Frank Burns says "there's a trick to that!".
Later, he borrows Franks watch, but botches a change bag switch and pummels Frank's watch with a hammer. Ahh, Ferret Face...we miss ye. Douglas M. |

Paddington Bear! (uses a one way forcing deck then smashes Mr Curry's watch with a hammer.)
Mr Bean (OK he was not actually a magician but he was a pretty bad assistant) Neville Longbottom Steve Martin in parenthood (makes kid cry with thumb trick then does balloons) Most of the characters in "Magicians" |
