I picked up Extreme Burn by Richard Sanders today and as I walked out of the shop I remembered Theory 11 was releasing a bill change effect as well and the demo would be up today. I was hoping I didn't just spend 30 bucks on something that would be surpassed by another trick just hours later.
Well, I just watched the demo for Prophet and I can safely say I purchased the better product. No offense to the guys at Theory 11 -- it's a great company -- but in my opinion Prophet doesn't look nearly as good as Extreme Burn does. Sanders' versions just look absolutely effortless, no fast movements, just magic. |

Hi Magicsquared,
You're going to love Extreme Burn. Take a look at the thread in Tricks and Effects. It looks magical when you perform it for yourself Regards, Steve

Hello,
All(98%) magic is good. It could just depend on your circumstances, and your surroundings. Any trick could work at any time. It depends on how well you can act, and whether you've practiced enough. Usually the more visual, the more work beforehand(look at some of my stuff). I dropped off 14 disks(artwork too)at the manufacturer/printer yesterday, 5 more to go! I'm almost done with this first bit. You will see a big banner magically appear here in a couple weeks. Thanks for being patient. Cory Chapin

I watched the Theory 11 demo and really couldn't tell what I thought of it. Of the one-minute demo, about three seconds is the effect, and the rest is the obligatory Vegas footage (they seem to have shot all their demos in the same street plaza) and reaction shots of people overreacting.
As for Extreme Burn, I kinda wished that demo didn't have the bills moving out of frame before the change, but I guess that's not such a big deal. |

There is even a change in Extreme Burn where you hold the bill in dealing position in your hand, just shake, and with no cover or fast movemements it instantly changes. Its extremely clean.

Ya I think Extreme Burn is the way to go on the multiple bill change plot. I just feel bad for the creator because I'm sure if Prophet came before Extreme Burn then it would have been a hit and sold alot, but Richard Sanders effects are a hard act to follow

I tend to think the release timing for prophet was bad timing..nipping at the heels of "Extreme" which had already picked up momentum on the forums out of the starting gate.
I don't think it will catch up. Sander's is just too far ahead. But that's cool, because Extreme, imho, is clearly the superior of the two.

Well you never know this could have something extreme burn does not, though at the moment I agree that extreme burn does seem like the better choice. I bet we are going to have a coin in sealed bottle like craze again, but this time its the arms race for the most visual, clean, and best demoed multiple bill change......

"Demoed." You said the key word there. If the demo doesn't rock, then the creator is hobbling on one foot from the start, nowadays.
In my opinion, as a side note, the demo for Prophet doesn't rock. Sanders video, on the other hand, definitely kicks butt.

I just watched the demo for Prophet. I had to watch it several times to actually see the effect being done but it looked pretty cool. It would have been nice to see more of the effect actually being done and less of the Vegas show stuff though.
It's not the size of the wand that matters, it's the "magic" in it...

I think some people who make demos like this tend to forget who they are selling to. As magicians, we don't care about watching 90% audience reaction and 10% effect. Richard Sander's demo was so good because he had the perfect line ("It just changes") and he sold directly to magicians. But I still think Prophet's version looks nice.

Mysto, did you mean by "the effect being done" the actual performance of the effect, and not the method?

Then you and I are on the same page. That reflects my feelings precisely. One little flick of the effect's actual performance and that's all we get?
Like I said Sanders video rocked. This did not. Evolve, I hope this clears the misunderstanding up for you. I was pretty sure what he meant, but I wanted to let him speak for himself.

Here is some more of how prophet looks:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AnuO6LWCCHs It actually looks kinda nice. Somehow I think the one effect that is more practical wins the race. Tjernobyl |

In any case, it is still hard to genuinely compare the two products, since nobody can comment on method, practicality, versatility etc. |
