Just say no.
You gotta be kidding! Since Nancy Regan started that campaign, America has become way more drug dependant. You can't watch TV without being bombarded with commercials trying to get you to buy drugs! Now it's Just say YES! There is a pill and a drug for all your daily needs. I don't need to make a list since I'm sure many people can name a bunch off the top of their head. The dope dealer has gone inside, from the back alleys and rough parts of town, to a clinic or office. Now all you have to do is place an order, they fill it and your good to go. So, what are you on? Me, I have some Tramadall left over from a kidney stone operation. I tried to give them back to my dealer...I mean, doctor, but she told me to "keep them", just in case I have some pain down the road. Okee dokee! Feeling groovey! 19 |

My wife and I have a standard snarky comment every time we see a new commercial that spends longer describing side effects than benefits.
The TV Says "This wonderful new pill lets you take just one pill instead of two! Users may occasionally experience sleeplessness, gas, the heebie-jeebies, the DTs, schadenfreude, and find themselves inexplicably mired in a brown study..." and she looks at me and says "AND...?" and I have to say "And your brain may explode." That's all I can write now, I'm overwhelmed by my restless leg syndrome. |

Caffiene and Capsaicin
Not as much as I used to in my younger days. I have cut down a lot.
Will you walk into my parlour? said the Spider to the Fly,
Tis the prettiest little parlour that ever you did spy; The way into my parlour is up a winding stair, And I've a many curious things to show when you are there. Oh no, no, said the little Fly, to ask me is in vain, For who goes up your winding stair -can ne'er come down again. |

Metaformin, another pill to keep the metaformin from making me sick and some new fangled cholesterol lowering pill.
Nothing anyone would want to take for pleasure. They all make me sickish, a little dizzy and my mouth tastes like I have been licking a rusty pipe. I hate drugs. If it were up to me, I wouldn't take anything stonger than aspirin. I despise drugs that mask symptoms. If I can't feel what is wrong, how will I know when I get better? However...Caffiene and Nicotine don't count. Those are food groups. Gwyd |

As for me I am not on anything except a daily asprin and an allergy pill. I don't take drugs,This is due to the fact my wife has a perscription for 120 percocets a month and as she is calmed by them, I don't need anything for me. NUMS |

Gwyd, I quit cigarettes over a year ago, so it's not a food group. It's really, really cool and fun and boy do I miss it...but you can live without it.
Caffeine. Necessary for the life processes going on in my body. Alcohol. Not necessary but all too often present. Otherwise I'm clean. Until summer. Depending on the summer, I might take handfuls of Benadryl. Sometimes I make it without. Jeff |

Stoneunhinged- I used to take all sorts of various allergy medications, and had the most awful, agonizing hay fever- I would feel like I had a severe head cold, plus exploding tear ducts, for weeks on end.
About a year ago, I started taking fish oil and a multivitamin. The hay fever vanished. Go figure. Apart from those suppliments (and my alcohol and coffee suppliments) I'm on dextroamphetamines. Yep- meth. By perscription. (For ADHD. And to address any comments pre-emptively, 1- yes, it does exist; 2- you don't grow out of it, you just learn better coping mechanisms.) -Erik (day 19)

More pills for more things than you would care to know.
I never went to a doctor. Then I got married and 3 years later she gets me to go. I made the mistake of being honest. If there is a pill for it, I have/am/will be prescribed it. If there is no pill they simply ignore it. However in an apoplectic rage during my last visit with extreme medical ineptitude, I explained in no uncertain terms that they had their chance, 10 years worth. I don't think I'll be invited back. And I'm taking far fewer pills now.
Magic is doing improbable things with odd items that, under normal circumstances, would be unnessecary and quite often undesirable.

I take 11 pills when I wake up, four pills when I go to bed, and none of them give me the slightest buzz. I take them for my blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesteral, allergies, and vitimin supplements. Getting old stinks.

The days of smack, ludes, blotters and thai stick ended over 25 years ago.
Just nicotine, an occasional brew or few and Lotrel for blood pressure nowadays. |

Slightly off-topic, but I have suffered - off and on - from sinus infections. The bad aspect was that way too often I would feel like my sinus had an infection, even if there were no other real symptoms. Just that yucky feeling in my sinuses.
That is gone now due to my use of a Neti Pot. I'm sure many of you have heard of them. For awhile I tried using a water pik style device that shot bursts of water up the nose, but the neti pot is much more thorough, much easier to prepare, use and clean. And it has effectively ended my sinus problems, to boot! Hope this helps someone else out there.

Chessman, I have had my eye on that everytime I see it discussed, but haven't taken it up yet. I think it has to do with my fear and hatred for having water invade my brain when swimming.
Regarding the side effect disclaimers, the one that I think is funny as heck is on the Viagra commercials... "May cause sudden loss of vision." The voice in my head always chimes in with, "Stop it, or you'll go blind!"

You do need to angle your head right in order to keep water out of the ear canal.
This has been a god-send for me.
