I was a a door to door salesman for about 15 years, I've read a huge amount of the marketing/sales books out there, and its and exteame rarity to find a new approach, most are rehashes of old techinic's that's been around for over 50 years, Every once and a while some one collects them and puts them in a new cover and sometimes even has a new slant on one which in marketing is honestly the most you can hope for because basically if you can think of it I can almost guarenttee that is been tried before and if it was a workable idea someone has based a book on it.
Tip books are very help to people because they normaly have a huge amount of ideas in one place, I have created my own for personal use but it took like 10 years to put together. If someone spends the time to complie a book like this, and turn around sell it for 10 bucks we should say thank you because if reading this book gives us one new idea, or remines you about and old idea that you've forgotten about then its money well spent. On a side note before anyone asks are you going to buy it, I have booked my first performce in almost 6 months, Ive been too sick to work for a quite a while now, just getting back into the game, its a bit too out of my price range right now (have a wife and 5 kids,no joke I'm broke), but after I get caught up abit I will be able to check it out. In the last week since I reentered the work force I booked a conference and 2 department store walk arounds, so I'll be buying it in no time. Scott |

Majority of music business guides are pretty much
the same points over and over. they re-work it with newer graphics, layout and some new up-to-date approaches. I've read a lot of them, and magazines always have something new in them. there's a few magazines I keep up with and there's always something I might not of read or didn't apply to me at the time that does now. and then you learn from others, and talk to the best in the business. which makes it even better.

Some guys buy them all in spite of the fact that there are no new ideas out there.

No one (else) suggested there was nothing new out there... I certainly don't "know it all". There were several NEW things in the worthwhile books of lists and resources, and I doubt seriously that anyone here, who is truly honest with themselves, could suggest ANY different, "IF" you read it. The best news is that EVERY time I invest I find something new out there, but that is not always a good reason to invest either, is it? Others above said it well, so there is no need to restate it again. Here is what I KNOW: I made over $1,200.00 bucks (so far) from just ONE of the tips/links in the $10.00 eBook, and it is far from over yet. I guess it was a worth-while $10.00 investment, eh’? Good shares guys… back to work for me. Deano ><>

Dean gets it. "The principle of the slight edge." Dan Kennedy talks about this, and it makes sense.
That's why Dean's successful. |

Well while I am thinking of it I am just going to post this. Hope it does not make too many more enemies than I have already.
First problem most have when discussing "Success" is that this is one of those subjective definitions. It has a different meaning. For one success is nothing short of national TV. For another it is nothing more than being able to pay the bills. For another it is a happy family life, and a few extra buckarinos to throw around on a nice dinner every couple weeks. Still others want fame with no fortune, and others fortune with no fame. AND ALL POINTS IN BETWEEN! So first off you need to define what success means to YOU, prior to being able to set out after it! Otherwise you are setting sail with no destination, and maybe you will be lucky and make it, but probably not. So then the next thing you need to do is to have an act. Yep get one. Not a few tricks, not a collection of things, but an ACT. A SERVICE you can provide for someone. Why are magicians in general so lazy that they are looking for a 'system' or a 'method' and don't just go do it? Oh well I guess that is enough.

Danny, I agree with you!
But you have to remember most magicians do not look at magic as a business. We love to entertain and forget that we need to market and hustle for gigs. That is why they (we) look for a "system". I am not sure if it is laziness or just lack of knowledge. These systems are probably good. But you hit it right on the head, success is subjective. I mean no offense to any marketing system, but for example, "Make $25k a year part time doing Magic" (not sure if that is the correct title)I know people that are doing that right now without the help of a system. They are basically looking to double or triple that figure. "And so it goes" Vonnegut

Danny is RIGHT!
"Success is Subjective" the cool thing is YOU get to choose what your own success is... and THAT is what each of you should go for and aspire to. Certainly no one is suggesting otherwise... nice observation Danny! Why would anyone think you an enemy for pointing out the obvious truth? Good stuff! I am at your service and in HIS Service, Deano (loves "MY" success) in Reno <><

Actions and behaviors of those who create their own luck must not be underestimated. Remaining open to opportunities, and that openness is the key to so called luck. It can range from talking to strangers, dropping names, ease dropping, asking for help, and staying focus on your goal. Also, allowing yourself detouring from the path to pursue new ones as they come open and being able to identify them. And exiting in a timely manner without burning bridges."
