http://www.hocus-pocus.com has a section on its list of categories called "Free Downloads"...that have some interesting effects. Michael Boden as the lion's share of the items (there are currently only four). One that is really fun is Sew What.
Here is the gospel application I've come up with so far...but watch the free video first to have this make sense. "I'd like to begin by (notice that button is not fastened)...oh my...I apologize...I guess I was in too much of a hurry today...(pull button off)...and apparently I didn't make it any better. You know life is like that...we get in too much of a hurry and don't take time to pray...don't take time to spend it in God's Word...because we are in too much of a hurry. And when we do that...we...(show button)...come apart. But I've found...when we give it to Him...(appear to place button in hand...see video and you'll understand)...He is faithful to help us resort out the mess we've made and (show button is in place) restore us. Aren't you glad you serve a God like that. Now what I wanted to share was..." and go on to the next trick. The point of this is to make it seem like it was just a spontaneous thought...not a trick unto itself. Anyway...those are some ideas. Perhaps you can use them or apply the ideas to something else. ><> J Kif

Thanks. This is great for an ad-lib routine. It's a perfectly simple message. Easy to adapt for a non threatening witness. (and no pocket management) It cost $2.00 and I think anyone can remove a button. Looking forward to seeing you again at the FCM Int. in Marion. Chris

There is a small manuscript on a button routine similar to Proffessor Cheer Rope..(without the finale) that might go well with the above.
Button on right sleeve is hanging..pull the one on the left sleeve and the right one goes back secure...but of course now the left one is down...Go to the middle button on your jacket..and pull... Peace be with you. Harris

Thanks for pointing this out and sharing your ideas here, Kif. I never even checked the free download section before... pretty cool.

Kif,
Thank you for sharing this. Michael Boden is indeed a very creative magician. I've been working with this idea into my children's sermon for this coming Sunday. I do the children's sermon when our minister is away. This week, a member of our congregation will be speaking about "56 years of Sunday School" in her life. As a precursor to the talk, I plan to perform "Sew What" and tell of preparation for Sunday Worship. Getting up, dressed, going to Sunday School, and joining in the Worship Service. My patter will be stopped when I look down, and notice I messed up at the "getting dressed" part...and share with the kids that the preparation part is great, but the most important part of what we do is our time with God...praising and worshiping HIM! Comments? Suggestions? |

I like that approach and will certainly use it as well.
