I see from the internet there's a movie called Pickpocket. Any body who watched it, is it fun or fascinating for us pickpockets to watch?

There's an old movie called Harry In your Pocket which I had watched years back, I remember having enjoyed it.

The Hitchhiker by Roald Dahl is my favourite pick pocketing story.

Oliver - this is what everyone imagines a dip to be like.

There is an awful martial arts film staring Chow Yun Fat and Sean William Scott about a pickpocket. I forget the film title which is only a good thing.

Someone was telling me about a french film about a boy who is trained to be a pickpocket thinking he is going to work in a circus but ends up working the streets.

Is it the french movie form Robert Bresson, Picpocket you'r talking about ?
It's quite good, like the narration and dips are well filmed, but you can find it a little long.

Yes I think that's the one. Not seen it yet, but seen it mentioned on the Internet. Still sounds like I might check it out from what you're saying. Thanks.

THe movie with Sean william scott and chow yun fat is called Bulletproof Monk.

It has all of a minute and a half of sean pickpocketing.

His bump and take hollywood technique and then when he hugs Mr. Fat.

If you got to http://www.pickpocket.com you will see that Gene Turner was the consulant for the movie.

when you see how fast Gene takes the watch of Sean, you'll notice that's how long it takes for him to take the watch in the movie.

I will say this, it is a bad movie. But I still like it.

Pickpocket by Robert Bresson is a great movie by a great director. It's a story about a man learning to be a pickpocket in Paris. Lots of pickpocket scenes beautyfull to watch. the magical consultant was Kassagi who plays in the movie too.
You should watch this if you like pickpocketing.

Casablanca (1942) Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman star, but Curt Bois plays the pickpocket. Just two short scenes with the pickpocket, but a great movie.

There is a rather new German movie including pickpocket:

"Was ich von Ihr weiß", Maren-Kea Freese, Deutschland, 2005/2006

I did the pickpocket consulting for this movie, and trained the actors.

Hi--

You can get HEARTBEAT (Basil Rathbone and Ginger Rogers) I think produced in 1946. It is on DVD, I just watched it last week. I am soon to produce a feature film about pickpockets and saw HEARTBEAT for research. Light and fun, and not a bad love story. Of course there is HARRY IN MY POCKET (James Coburn and Walter Pigeon) which is a good pickpocket film, except for the truncated ending.

You might check out David Avadon's book, CUTTING UP TOUCHES (about theatrical pickpockets), released in 2007 lists film references. It is a good source of research.

Hope this helps.

I watched that this evening and enjoyed it. I just noticed a moment ago that magician Tony Giorgio played a role in the movie!

I didn't mind the so-called truncated ending, but I was disappointed about the behavior of one of the characters near the end of the movie. I'll say no more so as not to spoil it.

A more recent film to add to the list is Le Mozart des pickpockets:
