Hi, Max...
Looks good to me. well done... I really like last retention. Probably you wanna close your hand quicker. so it's real close at the moment you put your coin there. I see there's a pause when you close your hand. cos open palm sometimes leave an option for people to think that you take the coin back. although they don't see it either in the other hand. just my opinion thou. nicely done.. Cheers Andre

I like. Once you get the hang of retention vanishes you can do them in a lot of ways, as you show very well here. I too like the last one as it goes toward a complete vanishes. Nice handwashing as mentioned by ill above. So yeah, I think you've got it down pretty good.
Once you understand these type vanishes, you come to realize a bit more as to how easily misdirected unassuming specs are in watching magic in general. A retention of vision vanish is basically a physical misdirection, albeit a very interesting phenomenon, one much to powerful most times for the mind not to accept for absolute truth. Keep up the good work max. Oh, and here's what you can do with such vanishes when you really master the psychology, timing, misdirection, physical abilities, etc. This is about as good as it gets when you put it all together. This guy is the best I've seen with the genre, turning a utility move into a remarkable routine and effect. Enjoy! http://youtube.com/watch?v=YnbDnQJbYJA

Max, the vanishes are smooth, nicely done.
One thing I'd consider though, I wouldn't vanish the coin and reproduce it from the shirt pocket, only to use the pocket in the very next sequence to clean up after the vanish. Reproduce the coin from another location the first time. BTW, in the past I've used the pocket to clean up quite a bit as well, it's a nice utility for sure. I perform the pass and retain in a RH thumb p**m. Instruct someone in the audience to "wave over the coin" in your left hand to cause the magic. Match actions to words in an effort to demonstrate what you are asking the person to do and wave you RH up to only about the bend in your left arm and travel back to your hand still retaining the coin for the moment. As you know a laymen feels a little weird at this moment and 99% of the time they will give you a lackluster, small, wave over your hand at best. Immediately *rib* them a bit saying, "Ohh come on! Give me a big wave!" While saying this you match your RH actions with your words again, but travel the full distance to your pocket for the clean up (displaying a "bigger" wave). He/she will follow your istructions with a larger wave and they get credit for the magic. This is small detail, but increases the mechanics of this vanish quite a bit. IT covers the ditch much more effectively. Give it a try. Best, Clark

Hi all,
thx for your nice comments... @clark: the reproduction from the shirt pocket is my get ready for the last complete vanish...what I mean is I can spread the pocket nicely so I have no problems to hit it afterwards (i don't like the idea to put a hanky or whatever in)...normaly after the last retention vanish I go into a jw grip (its so easy) make a gesture to my head (so they can see my hand empty) and ask the spec to concentrate on the coin...then in one smooth waving motion I ditch and the coin is gone...i did this many times and believe me they had no clue where the coin has gone because of this little gesture (interupt) they cant reconstruct the whole hand movement... btw the last retention vanish is from dan turcotte and its called the gone again coin vanish...so check it out... greetz max |
