I just picked up Senor Mardo's "Routined Magic" from the local magic shop. The cone used is a party horn and the routine looks nice. That booklet is full of great ideas!

They do mail order. http://hippityhop.com/cart/ They had two other copies, last Saturday. I also picked up a rope trick booklet by Himber and centertear booklet by J.G. Thompson Jr. Sometimes, I stumble upon some really neat stuff!

Keep trying, they'll pick up. Leave a message if you can. They have some stuff that can be hard to find elsewhere. A lot of people make quite a trip to get there.

Harry Riser has a published Ball & Cone routine.

As with all of Harry's stuff, there's an element of grace to the routine that's hard to find in a lot of routines these days.......but common in Harry's stuff Smile

Add my vote for Tom Stone's Conic Relief. He is an absolute creative genius.

Actually, Senor Mardo didn't design the bag. He used a bag that was credited to Harold Sterling.

Does anyone have recommendations for the ball to use with Ball and Cone? The ones I've seen advertised appear to be hard surfaced snooker balls (1 and 1/8" or larger). In Conic Relief, Tom Stone notes that the balls he uses are made of silicone but that rubber balls work fine. He also recommends using somewhat smaller balls (about 1.5 to 1 and 3/4") I found a leather cone at a dealer but would appreciate some suggestions about the type or types of balls that you have found work for you.

I learned it with snooker balls 2 1/8" in diameter. Vernon used large balls.

If you're doing the routine with a silk, a la Vernon, the hard snooker/billiard balls will be the best.

If you're never using a silk then the silicone or rubber balls would be fine.
I suggest balls that are at least 2" for good visibility and illusion enhancement.

When I see the routine done with smaller balls it just does not look nearly as magical at all. The balls I supply are 2 1/8" snooker/billiard balls.

That video was impressive. All the sleights and no vocal patter.

I like George Millward's performance.

Check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oEEgfNE9yHw&t=142s

Also, George makes some of the best, if not THE BEST set of Chinese Sticks out there. You can see them for sale along with George's Ball & Cone Routine and Props and more here : http://steelfyre.com/enigmaeffects/

That Enigma Effects website is I believe, defunct.

It's interesting that the ball and cone pictured there is not one made by George Millward.
It is a Bill Gusias cone from the estate of Larry Jennings.

They lifted the photo from the liveauctioneers website.

A Millward cone is about an inch and a half taller than a Gusias cone.

Many thamks. The routine provides a reason for having a cone - something missing in most approaches. It seems just a prop - why?

Here, trying to pass the ball through the smaller end is a challenge over come by the gifted magic - at least for me.

I have never performed Cone and Ball mush as the cone seems out of place -
now, I will rethink some of my old moves. I sued to use eggs instead of a ball.
