Eugene Burger's handling of the UF Grant version is wonderful, as is Jon Armstrong's Out of this Blah Blah Blah (and I also quite like Bruce Berstein's variation on OOTBBB called Separation Anxiety - a little more work, but a VERY clean effect with a small packet).
There are some other really great versions out there both methodologically and presentationally (French Postcards & houdini & Bess come to mind in the latter category), but the ones I mentioned above are the ones I use on a regular basis. Just depends a bit on the context - when and where you'll be performing it. |

Look out - self serving plug alert: BTW Power Plays is available from me as a PDF for $19.95. The book is OOP. Hey Mike, I've been after a copy of Power Plays for ages. I can't see the pdf version on your website. Should I just PayPal you the funds? PM me the details, or post them here, as I'm sure there are others interested in getting your book, which I've only ever heard good things about. Thanks, Marty |

Greg your version is great. I don't know all of the other ootw' s mentioned but yours is the most hands off I've seen. Plus, those cheeky mini reveals keep everyone interested in the counting process. The first time I watched I thought "***, that's so simple, why didn't I think of that?", and bought it straight away.

Thank you tomd for your support.
I usually start the above routine with the spectator shuffling the cards. Here's another performance from my Penguin Lecture: (I like this one better) I love OOTW! Greg Rostami |

Yes. I agree. Greg's is actually my favorite version. The only reason I don't own it is because I gravitate toward impromptu effects. Especially, if I can get close to the same impact. For spectators, it looks the same. For magicians, Greg's is a complete fooler! Cosmos floored me until I found out the secret. And I love it when I can be completely fooled!

A cull with a normal deck is what I use as well. If that sounds daunting, it's also pretty easy to do the necessary prep in a prior effect. One simple example is a simple slop shuffle triumph such as Jay Sankey's Back in Time - I'll let you work out the details.

Can you give all of us some idea of how different the handling would appear to a spectator versus the version seen in all of the trailers/performances? |

The only difference in performance is you must invisbly cull the cards before you start.
I teach a very easy way to do this on the Cosmos Duo DVD. As sgtgrey has stated, if you are performing card magic in a set, it's very easy to cull the cards in a prior effect. On the Cosmos Duo DVD I also teach Cosmos 1 which allows you to perform an amazing color separation without ANY culling with a borrowed shuffled deck. If you perform Cosmos Duo, the way you see on the demo videos, your spectators have NO doubt that the cards are shuffled. cheers, Greg |

That's part of the reason why I like the version I do. Is because you can ask the spectator to bring a brand new deck or you can start off with one and with one riffle or faro shuffle you have the cards exactly in the order you need. Even if the spectator shuffles, you are pretty much ready to go. All the other shuffles you decide to do in the routine are just convincers. It's beautifully simple how the principle works and it's amazing not a lot of people have been utilizing this.

I think Joe Barry's version is just a stunning piece of work. He performed it at his Penguin Live lecture

The Joe Barry one is good, if you can get past the awkwardness of that lecture.
