Here is my list,
Most every NASCAR Cup series driver that was racing prior to 2002, Bobby Labonte knows me when he sees me. Cal Ripken, Billy Ripken (went to school with him) Boog Powell, Most of the 2001 Superbowl Champs Baltimore Ravens, A. Thomas offered to buy me a drink. The leading actor from The Wire Dominic West. WWE scrubs Horace Hogan and Big Reese. Andre The Giant. Brett Farve, #33 of the dallas cowboys (I forget his name) Artie Donovan, Johnny Unitus, Arthur Rhodes. That is all I can think of now and here is a pic of me doing magic for Jay Leno. http://www.entrcon.com/events/leno/jayleno016.htm NUMS |

Someone mentioned NASCAR drivers....note I'm not a racing car guy but I did run into Dale Earnhart Sr.. I expected him to be a snot (I went to get an autograph for my wife who is a race fan) and he couldn't have been nicer or friendlier. Very nice man and I was sorry to hear about his death.

That someone was me, I met him about 5 times and have 2 that were very rememberable for me.
Sept 1999 richmond VA. Walking next to him for about 100 yards holding a flag, trying to get him to sign, up ahead 10 yards is rather large puddle, he says " let me around that puddle and I will sign your flag" to which I replied " Sign my flag and I will let you around the puddle" We were shoulder to shoulder and I was not letting him move over...with a laugh he took my flag, signed it and I let him around the puddle. Feb 2001 daytona fl. Friday I was milling around the pits when I saw SR. walk in and I went up and asked if he would sign my hat and he replied yes, he took it and had it in his hand when some jerk jammed his race program on top of my hat and SR. scribbled on his program. I just took my hat back and said I would catch him later...he said thanks as he was in a hurry......Never got to see him again and Sunday shocked us all. RIP Dale, I still miss that Black #3 NUMS |

Was in Chicago and having lunch with a friend. I couldn't take my eyes off this stunning woman a few tables away. The waitress (fight political correctness and refuse to call them servers!), noticing the drool asked me if I was checking out Vanna White. Well, Vanna was there, but it was a friend of hers at the table I was caught up in, not Vanna.
Also, Burton Cummings of the Guess Who, but he is a local boy so maybe that doesn't count. Sad story, when the I.B.M. had a plaque commemorating the birthplace of the organization, Doug Henning was the celebrity magician who stood with Len Vintus (Member #1!) for the unveiling. I was there as a photographer for the local S.A.M chapter and at the reception luncheon afterward I was the only person polite enough to ask Doug if I could take a picture of him and Debbie. That brief moment is the only time I met him. I really wish now that I was a bit more pushy and actualy talked with him. |

From my days in radio:
Aerosmith Bo Diddley Steven Wright, (got to introduce him onstage) Adam Sandler, (thought he was a jerk) Joey Heatherton, (there's a name for you old-timers, her brother was my first boss when in the business.) From my days as a minor league mascot: Milton Bradley-Texas Rangers Ryan Zimmerman-Washington Nationals Jake Westbrook-Cleveland Indians I'm a huge jazz buff, so a few heavies in that area that might not be familiar to a lot of you. The biggest is my favorite, Maynard Ferguson. Got to perform for him a few months before he died. This weekend, I'll be at a concert by a band called Gordon Goodwin and the Big Phat Band. These are some of the finest jazz musicians in the world. We had met before and I did a few tricks for them. When I told them I would be there this weekend, I got an email from the lead trumpet player reminding me to bring a deck of cards. |

Carrie Fisher at the LA airport, rushing to answer a PA page.
David Lee Roth & his band in front of Grumman's Chinese Theater. He shouted "Takin' a lot of pictures, dude?" at me (I had a camera around my neck), which the band members seemed to find hilarious. Funny thing is, I flew back home to Iowa City the next morning, and that afternoon he was introduced and ran out onto the field for a Hawkeyes home football game in Iowa City. So I guess he followed me home. Ted Turner in an elevator in a hotel he owns in Atlanta. I told him "You've got a nice place here." He turned to me and said "Thanks," then faced front again. From the looks of his suit, it probably cost more than my car. Richard Simmons, hawking a book at Book Expo. I offered him a cookie and he crossed his fingers like he was warding off a vampire. It got a good laugh from the crowd. Timothy Leary, hawking his computer game at CES Wayne Gretzky, ditto John Madden, ditto Harold Hughes (senator from Iowa and member of the Watergate Commission) at his Senate office.

I won't name drop, but I was seeing a topless model that is in some of the popular lads mags over here, met some pretty famous people, and obviously with the magic performed for all types of sports personalities, comedians and celebs. Recently performed for an ex formula one racing car driver and a British indie band.

I was doing a play in college several years ago, in one of the theaters next in the same building, Peter, Paul and Mary were doing a concert that night, and we shared a (large) common backstage area. I ran into them a few times while we were each prepping for curtain.
I've also met: Eddie Money Dennis DeYoung (Styx) Jim Gaffigan Gordie Howe (sat next to the guy in Toronto for three hours, had no idea who he was) |

Ooh, ooh, Josh, that reminds me, I had a long phone conversation with Paul Stookey of Peter, Paul, & Mary. He called the small magazine I worked for to straighten out a subscription screw-up and I just happened to be the only person available to answer the phone. He was an absolute gentleman, and was astounded that I knew who he was just by him saying "Paul Stookey". I told him "If you want to remain anonymous, you shouldn't release an eponymously-titled solo album, which I just happen to own." He laughed and said, "Oh, you're the one!"
So does a phone conversation count?
