Don't they already have a flourishing DVD full of ripped-off flourishes?

Hey guys,

Lee is aware that some of his moves are on here. He wanted to let everyone know that the Ripper is a free pdf download on his site.

As far as MagicMakers go, once a thief....

I heard Ben Salinas is Rob Stiff's nephew.

And so why are we advertising it here? Inflames, while you are calling it a rip-off you are also calling attention to its very existance and most likely increasing sales.

Maybe if we say enough bad things about Magic Makers, then people won't buy it.

Few years ago, one of the magic mags printed a really really harsh review of a newly-released book of jokes & one-liners. totally trashed the book, the "author", the publisher, for ripping off all the material from working performers who were still using that material & had not given permission. hated it so much they wouldn't even NAME the book, because they didn't want to do anything to help it sell.

result?

the book was a smash sellout success. people went to their local store & asked about it, or figured out the name & author some other way, and bought it because - as the review pointed out - it was full of usable material.

so .........

Here's the Magic Makers dilema: there are people that we respect that have put out excellent DVD's by Magic Makers. From Simon Lovell to Randy Wakeman. From Martini to Paul Hallas.

Anyway, that's the dilema I have.

Your right. Add Sal Piacente and John Born & Jason Dean's DVD.

THe problem is, I hear this DVD doesn't only not credit but changes the names of the moves. No knock against Ben, he's probably a great guy but come on.

Why would a magician whose magic we respect release a product through Magic Makers? I can think of two reasons.

Buy only those that are original? Then when they see that the sales of the originals are much much better than the rip-offs, perhaps they might change their policy?

I, for one, am not tempted to buy...
