Does anyone know who to credit for scotch and soda?
I heard Downs' Dime and Penny trick, but I'm told it goes back even further... Scott. |

To my knowledge, Paul Diamond came up with the Scotch and Soda presentation. Have you looked in Bobo's for more details on the history.
Yes, that is my real name. Yes, I am a real person. No, you probably won't agree with me.

Bobo doesn't mention "Scotch and Soda" by name, but the "Liberty Half and US Penny" on page 260 and "Flash Silver and Copper" on page 471 of "New Modern Coin Magic" are both done with the "Scotch and Soda" gaffs, made up in different coins.
Woke up.
Fell out of bed. Dragged a comb across m' head. |

?? - the gaff appears to be a Downs creation but the presentation for the common use seems to belong to Richard Himber

Didn't Paul Diamond have a set like coin unique but with half pennies? I believe I actually have one in my room somewhere.

Paul Diamond came along after Richard Himber - who was doing the club scene and so brought the Downs gimmick into more refined company - while others explored the Sun/Moon side of things separately.
