We'll update this list on Monday for those interested in attending. Harlan will talk openly about his recent incident, then treat you to his revolutionary new Jam Session concept: HARLAN's Professional JAM SESSIONS This is no "standard magic lecture" -- the Professional Jam Session provides you with incredible insight into the psychology and methodology of deception, and treats you to fully scripted professional routines to illustrate every point. Each session includes personal, practical instruction from Dan Harlan, a full-time professional magician with over 30 years of real-life performing experience. How much is that going to cost you? How about 25 bucks? Yep, that's right, just enough to keep the "dead weight" away so we can get into the real secrets of magic, yet still unbelievably cheap! "Truly a creative genius, Dan Harlan's personal instruction provides a rare opportunity to acquire the essential tools that will last a lifetime." -- Jeff McBride Here's just a few things I'll share with you: Perfecting Sleights and Various Forms of Misdirection Creating Your Own Effects and Personalizing Your Material The Hook and Other Scripting Techniques Building Routines to a Climax and The Principle of the Series of 3 Structuring Your Show for Maximum Impact How to Get Paying Gigs and What to Charge How to Approach People in Any Situation Types of Audiences and Handling Difficult Spectators Stage Presence: What it is and How to Get It Major Causes of Stage Fright and How to Deal With It What To Do When Things Go Wrong Life on the Road and What Goes On Behind the Scenes ...and plenty of other cool stuff! Plus, I recommend you bring a routine you're working on and I will show you how to hone it to perfection. The price for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity is only $25 per person, so... will you sit at home wondering what all the fuss is about, or will you hang out with me and the "hardcore group" who care about creating great magic. It's your choice -- I hope to see you there. You may also bring a notebook to write down important notes (audio recording permitted, video is not). If you would like personal instruction on a specific routine, bring it with you. Thanks again for supporting this exciting new concept. I'll see you there! --Dan Harlan - - - - - - - - - - - - - DAN HARLAN created Card-Toon, Hover-Card, Crazy-8, Color-Mixer, Hold It Buster, Hot Crossed Ones, Missing Think, My Word!, Red Rover, Royal Oil, Switchblade, The JUG, etc. His incredible routines include Burnt to the Core, Cheez Wiz, Horror Matrix, Now U Z It, Rising Dough, Starcle, Tight Rope, World's Saddest Trick, and of course... countless rubber-band effects. Hi Dan,
Wished you were coming to the New England area. Remember seeing you at a private lecture at Simon Lovell's house years ago. So much great material... Good luck. Tom |

I have to agree with Tom on this one, as I was also at Simon's house for the lecture as well.

I wish I could make one of those lectures, but they are a little too far out of my area. Hopefully you will be able to make your way a little further east in the near future. Best of luck with the tour Tony Iacoviello |

I had the privilege of attending Mr. Harlan's Jam Session in Columbus, Ohio last night and it was absolutely outstanding. If you have a Jam Session coming anywhere near you, GO, you will not be disappointed. The Magic was awesome and I learned more about presentation, scripting and building a real professional show and truly entertaining an audience than I ever have before. Not to mention it was just an incredible experience being part of such an intimate evening with a true professional the caliber of Mr. Harlan.
Thank-you, Joe |

Dan visited Las Vegas last evening and everyone in attendance (about 20 folks) thoroughly enjoyed his Jam Session. Dan did spend a few minutes up front taliking about his recent "events", but the focus was on performance and how to implement some specific artistic and creative formulas to make one's magic performance more meaningful, logical and entertaining while making it easier for the performer to present. Definately stuff you don't usually get at a lecture. A worthwhile evening with a truly innovative pro.

Here's a message from a friend not currently on the Café...
"Just a note to thank you for dropping into our favorite toilet (Boomer's) and delivering your lecture this past Monday. Your passion and knowledge of magic were all there. The lecture only emphasized my long time belief that the creator of the "Minotaur" should be lecturing far more than he does. In the past, I have found several of your effects to have wormed their way into my repertoire and stayed there. I am thinking of the incremental penetration (?) of an English penny working its way up through a stack of four halves. Your Color Mixer has always been a favorite of mine, once I came up with my own stand up presentation. It is probably the only effect that I have ever written a script for before I learned it. Unfortunately, only psychopaths can truly appreciate it; the rest just wrinkle their noses and block their ears. Your generosity in going over your comedy club act is appreciated. The detail you gave only underscored the dedication of someone who is talented enough to create the aforementioned "Minotaur". Our styles differ, but I enjoyed the minutiae you provided in going over the details. The subtleties of rope handling that can be integrated into almost any "long and short" rope routine had to have been appreciated by all as well as myself. Thanks, for a great lecture. --Gary"
