I just watched the Kidabra Birthday party DVD and was blown away by Mike Bents Big Bag O'Bunny routine. It seems like it could be the perfect ending for any B-Day show. Does anyone know where a blendo bag like the one he used can be purchaed?
By the way does owning the DVD give the rights to perform the routine? I know that Mike stated that the routine was based off of another routine, but I wasn't sure. I absolutely loved it and would love to use it. I also adored his use of Martin Lewis' Cardiographic with the bunny coming out of a hat instead of a card out of a deck. That really seems much more practical for a b-day party than a deck of cards. Kudos to Mike Bent. |

Mike Bent is an incredible person. You can buy the Big Bag o'Bunny directly from Tim Sonefelt's site http://www.timsonefelt.com/cgi-bin/magic_store/cp-app.cgi . I use this effect regularly and always with a great response from parents and kids. Worth every cent!

Mike also sells them directly (but is temporarily out of stock):

About your other question. Although it's not Cardiographic, here is something similar in effect. Steve Axtell makes a Special FX Drawing Board (different product from the Magic Drawing Board, with the face that animates), in which you can make a bunny come up out of a hat (and other things). I've had one for years. http://www.axtell.com/illusions.html

For the most part the answer is yes. Unless it states it otherwise. There are notable exceptions. For instance, doing Michael Finny's rope routine, would not be wise because it is all him. I guess the best way to apprach it is, if the DVD explains how to do the routine, then it is OK to perform it. If the DVD is performance only, then it does not give you the right to perform it. For instance, Denny Hanney's DVD/VHS is performance only, and to cpy what he does, I would ask him first, and expect him to say no, create your own routine, use the DVD as a guide on presentation. If you are refering to the KIDabra Birthday DVD, yes, you have the rights to perform what ever is on that DVD.

Mike had them on sale at the IBM in England when he was over earlier this year, They looked fantastic.
I have to say he did a great job on the Children's Showtime Show as well. Well done Mike. I did it 2 years ago with David (Silly Billy) Kaye, and its not easy as our kids can sometimes not see the funny side of American Humour. But a great job was done by both of you.

Jimbo, you have been very quiet for a few weeks - good to see you back.
I was 'on the bill' with Mike at the IBM Eastbourne convention and I think he went down very well. His presentation was not too different to what British children would expect to see a magician doing. I also found him to be a very nice person. Dave
