Not sure what section this belongs in, but have you ever made a purchase of a magic trick or effect based solely on you wanting to know how it was done...as opposed to purchasing something more practical for your routine or show?

A few tricks that floored me so much upon first viewing that I just HAD to spring for them knowing full well that they would never be added to my regular routine...

- Harry Anderson's Needle Thru Arm
- Healed & Sealed
- Note Pad Surprise

To name a few. Smile I'd have a much better budget for stuff I actually do use and need, but I can't help but indulge a bit here and there when it comes to stuff that I just want to know the workings of.

Anyone else share this "problem"? Smile

I'll admit I did this once, and that was for the purchase of Criss Angel's levitation DVD.

I have made purchases out of curiosity many times. Most of the stuff is in a "Curiosity Junk Drawer"....lol.

Haven't done this in a long time. However, a few weeks ago the curiosity got the best of me and I bought Matthew Bich's TnR. Fantastic method, but for me, very unpractical in the venues I work in. Chris Kenner even hints at this in the video. He says that you'll enjoy this even if you only perform it in front to of the mirror. I think he knew most of the purchases would be just like me.

No, I don't think I have. I have bought a lot of stuff which I thought I'd do.

On the contrary, I refrain from buying or trying to find out how things that I don't see myself doing, works. Big illusions for example. Sure, my mind works, I can't stop that. But I don't want anyone to tell me. Let alone buy the secret. I try to keep the magic feeling whenever I can.

I remember being very, very disappointed when I accidentally got involved in a conversation concerning the Zig Zag. I covered my ears and shouted "LALALALA", but too late - I was already at home, in bed, and my wife was wondering what got into me...
