How come spams to everyone are delivered as private messages? Why not just put it in an announcement or promotion category.

Eric, if you read the rules, you'll see that special announcements will from time to time be sent out to all of the members. Since these announcements are for a limited time only, sending them out as a PM makes sense. They are automatically deleted after a period of time. Announcements in an open forum would have to be manually reviewed for deletions. If you're not interested in the promotion, simply delete the PM when you get it.

I've mentioned this tactic before: If you don't like the spam PMs, simply don't open them and read them. Whenever I get one, I don't even bother clicking on it to open it. Note, however, that if you want to delete the spam PM yourself, you MUST click it to open it first. To avoid being subjected to the spammy message, I simply DO NOT click open the spam PM at all. Instead, I just let it sit there UNREAD in my Inbox taking up bandwidth until it automatically disappears on its own. They always do.

Perhaps you should read this topic to answer your concerns.
http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......rum=40&6 And Hoodrat, bandwidth is not a concern so your TACTIC doesn't effect anything.

I meant it has no effect on the bandwidth of the Café. If it has an effect on you, then it is personal and not technical.

If you don't want to play by the rules guys, go play somewhere else.
It's that easy! If, like me, you love and want to support the Café, you open them, read them, you may even act on them... if you're here moaning about them you need to get more in your life.... Maybe I do as well, entering into this thread

Thank you Vincent. You've hit the nail on the head.

The sad thing is that by NOT opening the Café PMs, you opt out of exposing yourself to that piece of the magic world. When I get big enough to know everything and see from a PMs title that it has nothing for me, maybe then I'll just delete them or ignore them. But I've opened up more than a few - and even gone to some Café forums that are "not my style" - and seen more of the magic world than I will at home fumbling with my silks and cards.
