Your sweet as pie inside... I'll bet.
I wouldn't know for sure. Hey, George. Shouldn't you be asleep now? It's 3 days ago where you are isn't it? I'm in America, so I don't know much about all the other 3rd world countries (Like Canada and..... everywhere not here, like where you are)

What is your problem Josh? If you don't agree with my opinions then leave. And while you're at it, stop attacking me, I didn't do anything to you.

Pokerplayer269, why don't you spend just a wee bit longer getting to know us before getting your panties in a wad. At the very least you might take two seconds to read Josh's tag.
Or don't. (Why do I bother to give people advice? No one ever gives me any.) |

I don't see why that matters though. I'm not trying to tell people what is right and wrong. I am just telling people habits and views on magic that irritate me. |

Pokerplayer269 (hey, do you have a name? Mine is "Jeff"...glad to meet you, buddy!)
I'm an old guy, so maybe I got the "tag" thing wrong. I meant Josh's "signature". I think. Maybe. Whatever you call the few lines at the bottom of all of someone's posts. Mine says HOOKADUCK! and other stuff. Danny's says "Semper Occultus". Read what Josh's is. And while being 16 may seem meaningless to you, you might consider that this part of the Café is something like a bar. And when a bunch of guys between 25 and 65 come here to shoot the sh*t and have a few laughs and such, a 16 year-old entering the room provokes a lot of laughter and sarcasm and other things, because we're drinking and having fun and...hey...a kid just came in! Got it? It's nothing personal. Maybe you should PM Michaelmystic. He understands this, and he's also young, but he comes here anyway because he's a good sport. That's what you need to learn: to be a good sport. And I have given you advice worth GOLD. I accept gifts in return. If you want to mail me a box of ho ho's or cherry pies I won't refuse. Jeff |

Interesting...My name is Jeff as well. And while I do understand that many of you guys here are much older than I, this is the only magic forum where the senior members are such ***s. It's funny actually, most of the time it's the older members that tell the newcomers to stop behaving poorly and to be more mature. It seem that here though, it is the other way around.

Well Jeff, consider yourself in Wonderland! Things are different here.
I repeat: the Not so Magical...forum is...different. And one of the differences is that it's like a real bar--seriously--and not at all like other "magic forums". So I strongly suggest you spend a couple of hours reading this forum before talking about who is mature and who is not. See, it's like this: if you come here, to this forum, and start telling Josh or Josh or (God forbid! The horror...the horror!) Doug that he is behaving poorly and ought to be more mature, then you might as well just leave the bar and go home. A bar--hey, you're 16! Not a bad thing, but you're probably inexperienced with regard to bars--has it's regulars, and the regulars have personalities. Newcomers need to learn something other than manners and maturity. They need to learn the personalities of the regulars. And that is something you haven't done, my new friend Jeff. Got it? Maybe not. But that's the last of my advice. I've got to go cook now. Hey, Jeff, I know you're only 16, but have a beer: :stout: Now drink your beer, shut up, and get a feel for the place. OK? Jeff |

I agree with Iven.
A real peeve of mine is: Magicians who could improve 100% by just giving there magic a tiny bit of thought. For example: I saw a kid show, where one effect involved picking up a prop, opening it, and setting it down several times during the routine. The last time it was opened something happened, after a switch was secretly flicked. Instead of flicking the switch when he set it down the second to last time, he did it right when all eyes were fully engaged on him, before the surprise. The effort would have been no different, but the effect would have been soooo much better, had he given it a second of thought.

Pokerplayer269,
If this forum is to be likened to a bar, I believe the best thing you can do now is just walk over and put a quarter in the jukebox … look for “Friends in Low Places” … I think it’s A17 or A19 … something like that. Soon, all will be well. Steve |

Don't worry Pokerplayer... I didn't even bother to read your original post, so I wasn't attacking you. However I wish I had. It would have been glorious. I am going to assume your Peeve #10 was an attempt at self deprecating humor?

I have 37 pet peeves about magic and magicians but after I typed all of them I accidentally hit the delete button instead of the send button and now I have to retype them all. Not in the mood.
I have decided it is easier to have no pet peeves at all than to retype 37 pet peeves I just made up. Instead I will post this list. I now call it the comprehensive list of magic pet peeves. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=magic+pet+peeves |
