Richard Osterlind was the first person to see my book and his review is quoted below with his permission. A few other noted names have been given copies of the book and I expect their reviews to appear shortly, including one from Jerome Finley.

In the meantime here is Richard's review. I appreciate the nice comments Richard:

THE BLINDFOLDED CAR--A review by Richard Osterlind

I first learned of Devin Knight, a.k.a. Jason Michaels, from Al Mann. He was
the young man who was making headlines everywhere with the Blindfold Drive.
It was also from Al that I first got a book that talked about a "Blindfolded
Car!"

This is the real work on that novel idea! I feel a bit funny about
recommending this book in the same way that I would feel funny about
recommending a book about the Bullet Catch - no matter how good. Rest
assured, this stuff can be dangerous! Devin warns the reader over and over
again just how dangerous that is. So take heed, and yet, I DO recommend this
book highly. If you are a serious mentalist, it is something you should have
in your library. You may never know when you need this information.

On a different note, I found this book to be fascinating as it gives the
reader a "feeling" about what the real work in such feats is like. It is
real, nitty gritty stuff. Also, there are plenty of ideas here you can adapt
to other, less hazardous effects. The practicality of these should open your
mind up to similar mentalism effects.

You should approach this work as you would if studying a book of Houdini's
escapes. But it is a study that you ought to if you want your education as a
mentalist to be complete!

Enough to print out the pages and cover the window of the car for the blindfold drive.

Here are my thoughts about this excellent booklet after having
now read it:

Mostly when buying something new today I tend to buy direct from a selected
few creators who always deliver top class concerning both quality and field
tested routines based on long time experience as a professional performer.
Devin Knight is one of those, and I’ve always ended up with much more than
I counted for when getting something from him, and so was also the case with
his new “The Blindfold Car”.

Even if I never will do what is taught in this booklet I’m happy I decided to get it. This because it’s about so much more than just the amazing feat of driving a car with the windshield covered. Apart from that, in itself a real Miracle effect,
there is invaluable and unique information about publicity stunts as such
(and this from someone having done it all himself), qualified information and
discussions about both blindfolds and handcuffs escapes.

Effectwise what you get is complete descriptions of two of Al Mann’s blindfold drives. One in a car where the windows have been painted black, and one in a car with a sunshield covering the windshield. As that is not enough there are also Devin’s fullfilled methods of driving a car totally blindfolded with newspapers covering the windshield.
Apart from all this you also get a bonus routine telling you how to stop a car with your mind while a reporter is driving the same car.

As you already have understood by now I liked this very much despite I’ll probably
never pull off something like this, so thank you for it Devin and keep the Miracles
coming to the Mentalism world!

All the Best

Anyone want to chime in on although risky, the ability to do this effect after reading this book?

Is Devin Knight crazy? Doesn't he know that when you write a book of instructional magic these days, you're supposed to pad it out to double the necessary length, disregard typos and issue it as a limited edition hardcover? Smile

I paid just a bit over twenty bucks for "The Blindfolded Car" and it was well worth the money. It is a 40-odd page spiral bound booklet that is extremely thorough and pulls no punches on its subject matter. In addition to several variations, you get Al Mann's version plus an additional car effect which Mr. Knight probably could have sold for another $20 if he wanted to.

This book is one of those lamentably rare items which is reasonably priced and is everything it is advertised to be (and more). I definitely recommend it.

Is the information in this book completely and solely theoretical? Could I drive with a car blindfolded after reading?

I think the previous post state from buyers this is workable. Not only is it workable I have done it many times and gotten great publicity. NO PIPE DREAMS here but real world stuff that can make a reputation for those willing to attempt it.
