I haven't seen enough to have a top 10. (Unfortunately!)

But .. I HAVE seen Mac King and he definately would be at the top!

I have always liked Penn and Teller but saw their show in Vegas several years back and was suprisingly bored by it. Way too talky for me.

I also like Jay Sankey but don't find him all that funny. Maybe live would be different. I REALLY like Bill Malone but unfortunately, my wife finds him creepy.

On the top of my list to go see live are Jeff Hobson and Amazing Jonathan.

Here's four, anyway:

1. Jay Sankey - he seems to get funnier on repeat viewing. At first when I saw his DVD's, I thought "hmmm, he needs an editor or a director or something..." but now, watching his id spasm in all directions is a highlight of the show.

2. Greg Wilson - he's sharp and witty, and very quick with the quip (not slow with the slope...)

3. Gaetan Bloom - that accent and attitude... it's like that Lithuanian guy from Taxi decided to do stand-up. But he doesn't need the schtick, as his magic speaks for itself.

4. Jon Allen - just based on his "Spectators Do Not Exist" DVD, he seems pretty funny, sharp and likeable
Now appearing nightly in my basement.

Jeff Hobson is a nut. I get many chances to see him here in Vegas. Mac King is up there for me too. One person that I don't see on anyones list is Tim Gabeirlson. If you have not see him go do it. This guy is FUNNY! And Chris Capehart is the man. One funny guy there.

Tim Gabeirlson
Chris Capehart
Mac King
Jeff Hobson
Bob Sheets
Johnny Thompson

We had a Magician of the Year Gala for Marvyn Roy a week ago. I put up the pictures of the event on our IBM site. You can check them out at http://www.ibm257.com.
You will see why people think Jeff and Mac King are crazy funny. The pictures of Jeff in a dress and Mac King on the bed with Irene Larson are Priceless.

Cheers,

Top Ten Lists are short hand for thinking and odius at best.

We seem to need to grant the title “Comic Genius” to someone every couple of years, as if by ordaining them great, we need not dig any further for true humor. True humor requires that we re-examine that which is being parodied. It forces us to pause and ponder; and who wants to work that hard? True humor does not induce the immediate proclamation, “That was funny!” Thus the Comic Genius is, out of necessity, seldom a good comic.
If you are not cheating, you are only cheating yourself.
