Spencer wrote the book Dice: Tops, Squares, and Shapes under the pen name of "Burton Williams."

Forte considers him one of the two best card and dice guys he's ever met. He's still around although he's getting very up in age, I believe he's in his 90s.

Do you actually have the Resorts booklet prepared by Spencer or were you just referencing it from Forte's book? I'm curious because as far as I know there is only one copy in private hands.

Myself and a few others here have a pdf version of the book, but I was wondering if a hardcopy was floating around somewhere in Russia.

This is just easy search. Book what named Mr. Z was from "Casino Game Protection" "CONTRIBUTORS" section, where name of mr. Paul Spencer on title of paragraph. This is easy find when you have book on your hands. But book what I find - inside of "Casino Game Protection" on Chapter 5 "CRAPS" - "CROOKED DICE" - "Flats". To find it you need little more time.

Unfortunately, craps (and any dice games) not much popular in Russia. So find somebody who interesting this book here not easy. On Asiatic part of my country popular games like backgammon, where used two dices, but hardly believe somebody so interested this book.

This thread got a little off track, but the Spencer book is one of the few I've got that, upon reading through the book you realize that this guy really knew what he was talking about.

I thought Scarne on Dice was the dice bible until I read the Spencer book.

I initially bought it thinking it would have a lot more in it about physically making dice (which it doesn't) and realized quickly that the focus of the book was really more on living and playing craps in an era when games popped up almost everywhere folks gathered.

Definitely a different era, and reads like a novel you can't put down in places.

I'd enjoy reading more from Spencer. Does anyone know if he ever wrote more on dice under his own name, or his pen name?
