All of you who have your own additions to the routine feel free to email me...
I am interested in putting together a "supplement" which will include the nuances other performers have uncovered. Thanks! J

I probably missed something here but... what are the main differences between SR, From Hell, White Star (new release) and... OOTW... I'm only speaking about method here. If it's just about storytelling and props, I already have my version. If it's about method however, then I'm interested.
When someone commented on From Hell using the same method as SR nobody reacted, not even the creator.. So? Is it the same? Thanks! |

I performed this over the weekend an got great reactions. Jay, very clever method indeed. To me it allows the effect to bring the focus to the participants and away from the performer, which I really like.I look forward to future releases from you. Well done.

It seems there's NO comparison POSSIBLE, since nobody wants to compare... Pity...

In OOTW at some point during the effet the colors are reversed with new indicator cards which in the end leaves two rows of cards with a section of red and black in each row. Of course if you have Dean Dill's A New World it removes the need to change colors but you are constrained to use that deck. Split Reality does not require any changes or reverses and plays exactly as described. I cannot make a comparison to the other two effects because I do not have them but I would be curious about a comparison to White Star, they seem similar in concept. As stated in my earlier post I really like Split Reality.

Hey will4gzus!
Thanks for your input! I also own A New World and I like it. Cheers! |

A new world is a clever way of doing OOTW. Also, Jay's Split Reality methodology can be adapted to OOTW as well. I will be doing this very thing this weekend and see what type of reactions I get. Hopefully Jay will release some more material in the near future.

Having seen a promotional film for White Star it strikes me as being very similar to Split Reality, the only difference being the theme of the pictures.

And the fact that in WS the photos can be mixed...?

The photos may also be mixed in SR...
I can not comment on White Star as I have not seen the work... J

Oh? Really? A member on the other thread seemed to say that it was an advantage of White Star... Good to know then, thanks!

I've seen the vid of white star, and it seems identical in method.

The method applied in Split Reality can also be applied to many other objects...
The psychological presentation is the strongest with SR in my opinion. The photos CAN be mixed freely by the spectators... The routine supplied with SR has psychology built into it for a kicker climax in the end... Also -- SR was written, developed, and performed in the stage enviroment -- but it is also suitable for close-up... If there are any other questions please let me know! Thanks! J

For me, Split Reality has far more to offer than White Star. Not only is it more adaptable and can be tailored to fit your act and theme but for me the living dead aspect of the White Star effect leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

It also seems you can adapt the method of WS to any card effect with images...
The differences are difficult to find apparently... If the only think that remains is price, then the choice will be made quite quickly. |

As far as I can tell there is no difference in basic method...
Rest assured there is STRONG subtlety and nuances with SR. Different things may appeal to different audiences... WS is a story driven effect which may be good for the bizzare performer... SR is based on a widely accepted psychological theory. It has been said that SR will play to a wider range of audiences. Goldeneye -- please let me know if you have any other questions... Also -- past purchasers of SR please keep your eyes on your inboxes as well. You will have an opportunity in the very near future to recieve a supplement with some DYNAMITE variations from other performers and myself... All the Best... J
